New forum organization

Hi all,

We have reorganized the forum structure a bit, as it was becomming a bit disorganized with various posts ending up in the wrong forums etc...
The public areas of the forum have been limited to the 'Demo Version' forum, where newcommers can ask questions about our demo version.

All other support related forums have been moved to our customer forums which are only useable/visible to our customers, and have been reorganized to be a bit more clear about which forum to use for what question.

The Galleries remain the same and are just like the competition forums public, so any public registered user can post images in the gallery or competition submissions made with demo versions.
The Resources forum has also stayed public although only customers can make new posts in it.
We hope to resolve a lot of the spam we've been getting in support related forums with this new scheme.

If there are any problems, please let us know.

Yours,
Radiance

Note that some demo related posts might need to be moved back into the demo questions forum.
if that's the case, let me know and i'll move them back.

The DeviantArt mini competition should be moved
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=859
Since anyone can make a logo for it, not only customers ;)

i've moved it into the competitions forum.
don't just make more competitions in that forum though, it's normally only for official competitions for octane render.

Yeah, its just a mini-thing with no real prices
That's why I first wrote it in the General forum

Thanks for the move

The new forum organization is great
But it makes the Demo forum a little bit empty
Maybe move all the topics started by non-customers to it ?

Hi Radiance!
the new forum organization is ok but I think the OS-related subforums were clear and useful, maybe you could re-implement them in the "Demo" section if you like...?

Since the thread is not there anymore, any news from nVidia guys on the problem that arise when more than one cuda capable card is active on Mac?
I'm really just waiting for this to be solved to become a licensed customer and have access to the whole forum :)

thank you,
Alessandro

Hi,

i'll move that thread back for you.
i don't think we'll get much from nvidia, we might just have to wait for newer drivers to appear.

Thanks, I think the question will come back sooner or later since the issue does affect almost any MacBookPro unibody and every MacPro user who buys a new nVidia card to play with Octane (like the 285GTX) and doesn't remove the old one.

let's wait for the new drivers then... (it seems I just can't get rid of using Windows :? LOL)

cheers,
A

How can I get to a thread that I created this morning (on a possible bug with lighting using the world map latitude/longitude)?

IMO, it was a mistake to hide all of those other forums from potential customers. IMO, leaving the forums open to the public reduced the amount of questions that you received (because people could read other threads about possible solutions). For example, I have been reading the forums for a few weeks to try and get a feel for how the software works, in order to determine if it is something that I would want to purchase. I just downloaded the demo version and have been playing with it. Whenever I had a question, I would search the forums (via Google since the search function doesn't seem to work) to look for possible solutions. Now that ability to search the forums has been drastically hampered. And a lot of the information that is posted in those threads is now hidden from potential customers. So I would expect that you will receive a lot more questions on topics that have already been answered. Anyhow, that is my opinion.

+1

General discussion should be view only for non-customers
But not hidden like that

For the new release test thing (you know what I mean Radiance)
You could release on the Commercial support forum wich is hidden
