ORBX Media Player 3.0 is now out for the Gear VR. We also put out a first release of the ORBX Media Server for PC, which can be downloaded from https://install.otoy.com.
- The ORBX PC server can stream your desktop or a virtual chrome browser to a live viewport in the new OMP. This can drive a SCM lighting layer just like Oculus Cinema rooms used to do.
- X.IO streams can also be embedded in live viewports/lighting layers
- local live web page rendering is experimental, but should be fully functional by 3.1
- ORBX media files can posted to a URL, and the built in Metaverse Browser can consume download them and play them back without leaving the app. You can also them live with Oculus friends (see r/GearVR discussion below).
- Experimental 3D mesh support in ORBX media files. This will be officially support as glTF mesh in OMP 3.1, with Octane 3.1 also supporting glTF as a native 3D asset type.
- Embedding OMP inside another parent app is now possible using IPC and Android Intent. You can launch OMP as shared VR browser, as in the user experience mentioned in the thread below.
- We are working on simpler authoring of navigable and interactive VR content for OMP, some of which you can see in the VR Vines gallery. To make these files, we will be adding scripts in 3.04 that batch output VR content to a folder (or URL link published on ORC). Both can be easily consumed by the new ORBX Player.

The ORBX media spec for loading live web VR in browsers is coming along. We plan to share our research and code for OMP with Samsung's browser team to help support parity and more complex OBRX media files directly in their Gear VR browser.
