Hi, I would like to know if anyone has used a virtual reality headset, you can m enlightened on the issue, because I have trouble understanding you need a Orbx player, make a cube made .. .

1) what helmet should you buy?

2) Can we create vidéo 360 °?

3) what is the procedure for standalone octane?

4) is it worth the cost to domestic reports, is that vendor for interior designer

5) Does anyone test, are what really bluffing?

Thank you to all

Hi,
there are almost two kind of HMD (head-mounted display),:
1) with cell phone like Google Cardboard, Homido, Zeiss-one and Gear VR;
2) HMD for PC only like Oculus DK2 and HTC Vive.
A lot of new HMD are going to be presented during this year like Oculus Rift CV1, OSVR, Sony Playstation version and so on.
In my opinion, the best experience is still on Samsung Gear VR right now, with ORBX viewer and 16k cube maps, but you can also have a very good experiences with cheaper Google Cardboard. The freedom that the cell phone solution gives is amazing, the absence of cables and possibility to make presentation anywhere is unbitable ;)
In Octane is very easy, just switch the camera model from the Thin-lens model to the Panoramic camera model and, depending of the HMD choosen, set the frame format, stereo options, and resolution for the final pano node rendering ;)

thank you for your answer,

I understand better now, but can we walk like a game with octane?

I feel that only you can make a 360 ° panoramic with octane !

Hi,
not properly, the big issue, right now, is that there is not a good position tracking, so moving easily in 360° could be done when all the major HMD will have this option.
In the mean time, with OctaneRender v3 alpha you can bake your scene with the octane light and beauty and export it to Unity or UE4 (maybe also to the new Amazon free game engine) for speed real time navigation.
Anyway, when I show the quality of Gear VR + OctaneRender with static panos, all the people are amazed ;)

Hi guys

Just wondering how the output/rendered file from Octane ties in with Samsung Gear VR.
Do you have to install the ORBX viewer on the Samsung Gear VR and then load in the image?

Apologies if these are silly questions. Just trying to get my head around VR, pardon the pun.

Cheers

Hi,
yes, correct, you firstly need to install the ORBX viewer from the Oculus store, and then, transfer your cube pano vr in the media folder inside the ORBX viewer.
I find very useful to use AirDroid to transfer whatever I want to the phone, let me know if you need more help on this ;)

Hi Ciao Beppe

Super, cheers for the info.

We've got a headset in the office, so I'll render out a 360 pano and give it a whirl.

Cheers
