I can guess an answer.
I think this is just for testing purposes. You need both system, the HTC Vive and the Gear VR, which doesn't make sense for a mobile target platform. I think they used the Lighthouse sensors to try out what might be possible to achieve in the near future on a mobile device, but that's about it, it's nothing more than R&D.

It will certainly happen in the near future, but not now. Phones are powerful, but not as powerful as they need to be to do that kind of tracking + running the game/app and keep you battery alive for more than 5 minutes...
