Here's a little 3 node tour with audio I made using stereoscopic panoramas shot with our Atome stereo rig. The blue lamborghini has an arrow hotspot that will trigger a sound effect as does the orange aventador at the end. I tried to replace the arrow with a speaker icon but only the arrow ever shows up :(

I have about 50 stereo panos to link together for the completed tour.

Download and enjoy some supercar fun :)

Nice. :)

Interesting. When I did hit the "back" button on the GearVR, the sound file kept playing, then I switched to an old cubemap I had in store, and it was still playing. Your scene is on it's own folder. Although this is a bug , nevertheless, now I know it is possible to have continuous sound file playing between cubemaps :)

That is an interesting demo.

Will you support stereo rollovers/thumbs? Here is an example of the glowing arrow included in the demo as an L/R side-by-side stereo rollover/thumb:

I shall be publishing the version of Holodeck this week which will be able to run these demos. The alpha stream already supports stereo thumbnails.

Yes it is. Technically, it should work with looping BG audio when the audio link is the same between nodes. I will have the devs look into this and confirm. One time audio is triggered by audio_intro, and that plays in a separate channel from the BG audio.

We are pushing out 2.01 update this week:

- updates app without needing to uninstall old app
- fixes navigation cursor image not getting reloaded between projects
- fixes texture release issue when using the back button button to exit a project

Great. In truth, I never doubted this :)

With this feature alone folks, think about "music videos" or promos for just about any band out there..

Hi guys,

thanks for the code, it helped a lot to understand.

nice one @360precision. super quality stereo captures, I definitely need one of your rigs.

I´d like to share my work in progress scene with you:
http://www.regionfive.de/downloads/Phoenix_VR_LUA.zip
tell me what you think.

Question:
Will it be possible to build a closed app with a LUA sdk like Corona and utilize the orbx-player features inside that app?
So one can build promotion apps to put on gear vr oculus store?
It´s not really nifty if users have to download all the code and media to their orbx folder..
Will it be possible to build complex stereo huds with moving buttons and stuff?

cheers,

Thanks for the demo, loved it. It's so easy now to build really incredible experiences. ORBX along with GearVR really take my industry to the next level

The only thing for me though is it didn't return to the first scene once the trailer had finished.

Wow. Great.

John Carmack hinted at Oculus Connect2, that you could basically do a cubemap where is a "framed vision" with a stereo video screen. For example dr. Whos phonebooth. So you could look around and see the static interior of the booth and then "look outside" from the framed video screen, so you could travel around like this, with traditional stereo video making it appear to be live / 18k cubemap + audio creating the illusion that it all happens around you..

At this state of development, not a bad idea.

I agree that the option to compile all this into a proper form in order to be distributed via online stores, is of course a must to have. That being said, I need to point out that UE4 / Unity developers have quite painful times, because they can't distribute their products as easily as this, and they need to go trough a serious certification steps with proper phone ID tagging before installing them. Even early state versions.. So, we are very fortunate developers / artists for having as easy way as we now have.. :)
