dark banding artifacts on geo, almost like doubled up geo

I'm new to Octane, fun stuff so far but I'm just trying to get a feel for how it works.

I was going to post an image (I will once I figure out how) that shows the problem, but has anyone seen some odd banding artifacts? I'm using the Maya plugin in 2015 with a 770gtx. Just a box with an octane sky environment, it seems when I get closer to the geo the artifact is less noticeable, but when I pull the camera back bands start to appear. It reminds me of when you have two polys in the same space where the renderer seemingly randomly selects which face is in front of the other. I'll try to provide some info, but if anyone has any tips... perhaps this is a common Octane issue, I'd appreciate any info.

Thank you!

I think I figured it out, but please chime in if you have more info. The docs seem to suggest I shouldn't modify this, but it seems it's as if I suspected. I increased the rayepsilon (from 0.0002 to 0.001) and that seems to have resolved the artifact.

hi neuro, you're on the right track.
also check here http://render.otoy.com/manuals/Standalo ... page_id=62 (under issue 5), although you're using the maya plugin concepts from the standalone also applies.

Excellent, thank you for pointing that out.
