So I had a million idea's but have always loved the idea of mixing reality with fantasy. Two of my favorites growing up where Where the Wild Things Are and Time Bandits. My 10 yr old son, Mike, loves making tents on his bed and bedtime story's. Sometimes I can't always be around to read to him so this is dedicated to him and Patches (the dog).
Working on this has been amazing. Not only to be able to have real-time feedback but then to be able to put on the Gear and be "IN" the rendering is just amazing. I was telling my wife "I feel like I've only been drawing in black and white my whole life and now someone just gave me a every tube of color paint imaginable." I finally feel like I have the canvas I been waiting for my whole life. I hope I have time for next months competition. Keep up the good work guys/gals and thanks for making the Max plug available.

Cheers,
Sam

I love it! I have a special place in my heart for dark, moody renders. Especially out of Octane. That and neon with glow. I love this render, but want so badly to be just a bit closer to the center of the room.

Hi z_farm, nice one!

As dotcommer said before: as viewer you really want to step forward. Good luck!

I love this! Quick question, how did you do the fog in octane?

Thanks dotcommer! Thanks for the feedback.. I wonder how compositioin will evolve in 360.. its hard enough when you compose something with a frame let alone in every direction. I was trying to think about having forground, midground and background.... what is it that makes you want to move up..is it to be more a part of the scene?
Thanks Chriz! I'll have to experiment with that..
Thanks Badger.. I just painted it and then projected it back onto the geo.. :)

The reason I want to be closer is because the clear focal point of this environment is with the boy and dog. Its visually the most interesting thing to look at and entices you, but you've placed the camera physically far away from them, so the viewer feels separated, instead of included in whats occurring in the scene. A lot of the submissions I'm noticing are suffering from "fly on the wall" symptoms. While that style can work, I think most people want to feel included and involved in a scene, and not just a passive observer from a distance.

Thanks! it was fun.. Now that I see everyone else's I realize mine is very dark. Maybe if I get to do the next one I'll do something brighter. Thats really what octane is good at..sun and light.. :) .

We recently picked up the Samsung Gear and are showing EVERYBODY! We had almost 20 people come up to us in a diner to try it. Story Time is one of the first images I show people to give them an idea of how beautiful and magical this technology can be. THANK YOU! Awesome work!
