Autofocus by mesh

Can we get an option where we can choose an object in the scene and tell octane to always focus on it no matter in what corner of the screen it is or how far away it is. It’ll be great for animations with main character. A lot of the time autofocus is useless when main subject is small. Octane just focuses to backgrounds.

Hi coilbook,
AutoFocus is designed to focus on the center of the film plate, if no objects are in the center, everything goes out of focus.

But Autofocus by Object should be very easy to obtain with an integrated plugin

For example, in c4doctane, the Camera object is the c4d standard c4d Camera with an Octane Camera tag, and in the standard c4d Camera object there is already an option for focusing on a specific object:

Thank you! I am not sure if 3ds max plugin has it. Hopefully they can add it

Not so in Maya, as far as I can tell (if it's there and i'm missing it, please let me know!). It CAN be done in Maya but it takes manually setting up a focus rig using the distance measuring tool and parenting to the camera then to the camera's focal depth. It's not complicated but annoying to do in a new scene. It would be nice to have an object focus setting (which would always focus to the front edge of the geo) but a distance modifier on that in case you don't want to focus at the very front edge of the geo.
