Hi Aryen90
install 417.71 Nvidia drivers.
To get an effective Nvidia drivers installed, please use DDU Nvidia unistaller drivers, the best way to get a clean installation.

Go for 417.71.
It's the first driver in the 4xx that I have tried that actually runs very stable.

I have uninstalled the drivers and now I'm currently installing a previous version.
However. Midway through the screen went black and it stayed like this for a while now (10 or 15 minutes).
Is this normal?

I had this when updating drivers... or should I say downgrading lol, but if its the same situation... Do you have two monitors attached?

I ask this as during the install process setup defaults back to the PRIMARY monitor (switching your secondary monitor off temporarily).... Just watch/turn on your primary monitor and you will see that Nvidia setup IS still running but only on your main monitor, so don`t reboot... Just let it run its course and the secondary monitor will come back on once the display driver is installed.

My issues regarding the OP are being given attention via a support ticket at this point, as the method of using DDU v18.0.0.8 & Nvidia driver 417.7 did not work for me.

The steps I used are:
  1. Uninstall the driver using the add/remove programs control panel
  2. Wait until Windows Update installs an NVIDIA driver again (AFAIK there is no way to avoid this, and no way to tell when this is finished. The installer will report an error that the "Windows hardware wizard" is running)
  3. Install older NVIDIA driver using installer

Maybe you can go straight to the last step.

In my case as well this involved waiting for a while to see if anything would happen, followed by a cold reset. I also had to fully shut down the PC instead of rebooting.

If you have multiple GPUs in the system, make sure you have a monitor attached to the GPU which is considered the 'first' GPU by your motherboard. (this is the GPU which displays the POST screen and the Windows boot screen)

If anyone has been unsuccessfully, try getting the driver from Nvidia's website directly. This solution worked for me.

I'm only using a single monitor.
After 30 min i hard reset my pc (held power button for couple seconds), when i turned it back on the older driver was installed and octane worked for me.
Does anyone know if the problem still persists? Should i still wait before updating to current drivers?

Don't install driver 418.105 for mac.

Same issues, C4D/Plug-in-V4.02.1 crashes

Reinstall 410.130, it works again :)
