Tutorial about Universal shader?

hi everyone!

Im want to update my entire material library this year and im just knew about universal shader on recent versions of octane render standalone, i asking expert artists on this forum some questions:

- This is the definitive PBR material on octane? (to create a archviz library)
- Is there any in depth tutorial? (need any tweak on any given circumstance?)

And about plugins, Bepeg4d made a fantastic MBB QUIXEL PBR - https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=73&t=52320&p=316389#p316389, updating on universal shader is better or worse?

Sorry for many questions, and thank you all for answers.

Hi,

I made a video on the new features of Octane 4. It’s for Houdini but it can be adapted to any software. At min 22 , I cover the universal material. I also cover the basic PBR workflow and all the other options in the universal material. I’m putting the link below, it might be helpful.

Hey Rohan - thanks for that video! I had no idea how to use the Universal shader for glass and was still relying on the specular shader for that.

The universal shader essentially makes all the other shaders obsolete except for the transmission option in the diffuse shader. You can’t do thin translucency with the universal shader as yet. I guess that will be implemented later. But other than that it does pretty much everything else.
