Fog / medium ...... one again i guess

Hi

I'm trying to create an image like the in the reference.

But I'm having problems understanding all the different settings / terms when creating fog.

What is the difference between
- absorption medium
- scatter medium
- volumen medium

I know this is probably noob knowledge but.....

Which one should i use for a scene like this?

I'm struggling with the transition from "no" fog to "dense" fog (the x value in the sketch).
How do i control this?

I found this in the manual
"with the scattering quality that characterizes Fog in the real world, it is most practical to use scattering medium", so i guess i should go for "scattering medium" for a scene like this?

The manual also mention
"Adjusting the Medium Radius in the Environment node and perhaps setting it to 2 would provide a desired effect", but what is the radius - explained in a simple way? and why is 2 a good value?

If one looks at the facade to the right, it seems quite dark, but i have some problems getting this dark shadow on this facade, it seems that the fog illuminate up this facade.

I'm using a hdri image for lightning the scene - if that has any effect on the settings :-)

Thanks
Jorgensen

PS: Sometimes I have to tweak "Coherent ratio" to get fog working in the "Environment" tab in the SU plug-in (strange).....
PS: fog working in SU ;)

fog and volume lights are definitely weak in octane. We just need a fog gizmo for fog, layered fog, noise, volumetric lights like all renderers have
