Don't know if it is my setting.
But when I try to copy and paste a material in standalone version, it never succeed (alway to part of the work). And you can not save material successfully to local DB either.

are you using only Standalone?
Which exact version of Standalone?
Operating system?
No problem here in copy/pasting nodes between scenes in Standalone, and LiveDB is perfectly syncronized with Standalone and plugins.
