as far as productivity is concerned, region render and relight are the most wanted features.

Part of the problem is you can only choose three.
A better survey would have allowed us to rank them in order from #1 through #10 (or whatever) because the way it has been done there are features that I would like in there but I'm effectively forced to say "I want these three equally but I don't want the rest AT ALL".
Which isn't a very accurate representation.

Hair&Fur #1
Render Passes #3
Mixing of daylight and HDRI environment #4
Volumetric: fire, smoke, clouds #2
Region Render #12
Particles #7
Rounded edges #10
Undo #6
Multilight #8
Internal Texture Mapping (planar, box, spherical, cylindrical, camera and so on) #13
Subdivision surfaces (OpenSubDiv) #5
Multi UV channels #11
Network render #9

That is the point.
Everyone have to decide what is more important for him/her. Otherwise everyone would vote for all this features, because why not, I need all this features. In this case this poll is useless, all options just get equal amount of votes.
And we can't work on all this features at once.

Karba, your poll was spot on pal. We now have no doubt you guys will be chipping away at many items from The Wishing Well. Thank you so much for actually asking us which top three we wanted most - which btw could have just been one - but you made a solid choice of three.

I'm so very, very excited about 1.21 and finally getting my Visibility!!.. I'm excited about anything else added leading up to 1.5... And I'm excited about every last item in the poll and can't wait to get my stinking paws on all those goodies (especially volumetrics). It is so good to be excited. I feel like a kid on Xmas Eve...

Thanks again Karba, RayTracey, Marcus, Goldorak and everyone else on Octane Team.

Karba,
Looks like about 170 people voted.
You have registered forum members of more than 90,000! No idea if those are all users(?)
Not sure how serious you can take this if you don't get more users involved.
If you're interested in getting a more representative vote, I'd suggest an email to notify people that Otoy are interested in the opionion of users for features.

What are your thoughts?

These two are not particularly huge to me, but after reviewing The Wishing Well just now, it seems to me that both Rounded Edges and Multi UVs got the most action... and you need to take into account the Rounded Edges (feature request) thread, which was pretty hot-n-heavy there.. guys seem to really want that in a bad way... something to consider.

Most active on the this forum... It goes back to my first point. A lot of users might only frequent the their particular plugin forums. If you take user's opinions seriously, why not make an effort to get as much feedback as possible and expose the poll?

This year the team seems to have changed from an open, responsive and reactive support team, to a closed and, at times, defensive one. Octane is such a great product and I 'evangelize' it to architects whenever the discussion comes up. But I find myself having reservations spreading the word these days, precisely because of this issue. That's a real shame. I enjoy working with the plugin developers because that is how it used to be with the Octane developers. I really the core team can somehow regain some agility. That's part of what makes niche software exciting.

The team has 'assured' us it reads all posts. Great. But you don't reply to a lot of them these days. Is it so hard to give a simple response to a request or opinion? Whether you agree or not? Keep us in the picture a bit more? There are many examples of selective engagement. This is another example of a top-down approach, like feature development priority.
[/vent]

Just venting a bit. Use it / loose it. In the meanwhile, I am really interested to see which features will get some love and looking forward to see a new release candidate!
