guys please make a quick update ! because i can"t work right now !

The core Octane team will be able to push the needed updates once the final version of 8.0 is released. There are current development processes that would only be upended if we pushed for 8.0 at this current point. Once the proper 8.0 toolkit is in hand, we can comment in more concrete terms about 1080 compatibility

I sure hope we can see even a temporary/alpha build that makes use of Pascal architecture, because having this card sit around until August seems like an unfortunate waste.

Remember, guys:
When the GTX 680 came out, everyone was drooling because it has 3 x more CUDA cores than the GTX 580.
But then...
The 680 turned out to be slower than the 580!
we will see.

+1 on an Octane build based on the CUDA 8 RC that is already available..

it will not be any slower..unless code will not run very good =) From al lthe result on the web we've seen from other software houses.. Yo ucan expect same of like 25% better performance in CUDA aplications (soem results are even better, but I guess something fishy going on there =)

This and the fact that performance is not directly tied to the number of CUDA cores and the 1080 does not simply boast an up in CUDA cores, mind you I've upgraded from a single 780 Ti to the 1080 (hoping to add in another when I can get the cash).

You bought some very new hardware, without final CUDA driver released by NVDIA (CUDA 8) and you think it's the developpers fault that NVIDIA has not yet released the compatible CUDA code... I think THAT is the joke ;)

I have a 1080 but also 2 980ti and for the moment I'm waiting for CUDA8 without blaming OTOY, and use only the 2 980Ti

Just an update for everyone: The last two days I spent some time on trying the CUDA toolkit 8 release candidate, but there are multiple issues with it so a release based on this toolkit wouldn't work. I'm in touch with NVIDIA, so let's see what they can do.
