IOR is 1.5 which i think is OK for leaves and i don't think 1/IOR is needed unless metallic?

in any case depending on the view angle that doesn't work. way too much reflection and specular colour is very metallic (which i think is what 1/IOR is supposed to do?)

i'm still transitioning to Octane though and haven't used the Universal material til now so could well be wrong.

Thanks for the scene. We'll look into it

Any news about it ? It is really bad for vegetation materials that Transmission override Specularity Glossiness and makes them dull.

We've made some changes but it's going to need some testing. It should show up in a future 2022.1 XB build.

I see this change seems to have made it into Octane 2021.1.3. So much better.

Thanks Otoy!

Yes, a new transmission type was added to 2021.1.3.

Added new transmission type "Thin wall (diffuse)" to the universal material. It is meant to be used for thin surfaces like leafs and treats layers of the universal material to be independent of the side of the surfase. I.e. an incoming ray will always enter the topmost layer first.
