Live Database is Good - Could be Better

I believe the LiveDatabase is a bit of a hidden gem.

Here is what I believe holds it back:
*Lack of Meta Data.

Let's suppose I want a modern battered brass material--one that is built with the new Octane metal shader. How would I find that or even know if it exists in the db? Many of the materials are older. If there was a date of when the material was added...I'd sure have a better chance of finding it!

Meta-Data could also include a ranking system where users can give a score to a material.

Suppose I wanted to find materials from a particular artist or contributor? I can't currently know.

How about an indicator of materials I've already downloaded?
A checkbox indicating if a material can be tiled or not?
A brief description?

Again...meta data that can be displayed and searched would really help.

https://render.otoy.com/requests/

I'm not sure anyone is posting new stuff there, or if Jules & Co. is even bothering to look in there any more -- no one has closed "Vertex Map / Vertex Color / Point Attributes" feature request yet, which is now in Octane -- so it is anyone's guess if posting in there or up-voting the numerous LiveDB-related requests would be a fool's errand. Honestly, it feels so much like a ghost town around the Octane forums these days. This place used to be jumpin'... :? Did a tumbleweed just roll by?....

just adding a search button would be an improvement.. and otoy should at least update their section of materials with the updated metals and such

Couldn't Agree more, Used too run Maxwell render. And there material database was so much better.
One rely smart thing they did was having competitions on creating materials, people could win licenses etc.
And the biggest win for all of us was all new materials every competition contributed with.

So please put some work in to that area
