displacement map: "edge fill"

Hello everyone
This is my first post here and I'm gonna keep it short. I'm working with the octane plugin for Cinema4D.

I'm currently working on a project where I put a displacement map ( 16bit.png made in world machine) on top of a cylinder with a polygon selector. However, I want the cylinder to look like it was a "cutout" of a landscape, so the edges of the cylinder must be connected to the displaced part. I have no idea how to do this and I've tried everything I could think off. Heres a screenshot:

I'm very grateful for every suggestion and looking forward to your answers!

Kind regards
Marlon

It's not a plugin issue. I'm sure Octane developpers are aware of.

Thanks for the reply. I know that this isnt a bug, its just how displacement behaves. I just wanted to know if there is any way you could achieve the effect I am looking for?

We can check that if you post height map for a solution. So it can be work-around for similar questions.

Hi,

You can fill in holes by this method: viewtopic.php?f=79&t=57313

Best wishes,

Why don't you use a C4D displacer on the cylinder instead of an octane one? That way you can control it with falloff..

Better still if you have Zbrush you could use the height map from WM as an alpha and use it on the end of a cylinder.
