when i already have a c4d-bitmap in the textureslot and then create a octane image texture, this octane image texture is empty and i have to find the image that was before in this slot. can the image automatically loaded in the octane image texture?

see screencap for example. there i show you the same workflow with a vrayshader. you just create the shader and the image is automatically in the new shader.

is it possible to use the Focus Distance of the c4d camera for DOF instead of the Focal Depth in the octane cameratag?

outsource parts of a scene

as i understand it when i hit render or start the LV the complete scene is exportet to octane.
would it be possible that i can define parts of a scene as something like a external part. so that i have to export it only once. something like a vrmesh in vray?

There is no need to do this since we have smart update engine. If you feel that you need so propably you're working wrong. Also time consuming process is not about the plugin side, Octane's data compilation takes much time for gpu.

what do you mean with wrong?
when i have a archviz scene with some trees a typical c4d filesize is about 1GB. this has to be exported once from c4d to octane when i start the render or the LV?

make me think you do reload several times. On all methods, Octane will transfer and compile data for gpus. That's clear for you?

yes thats clear.
i am not talking about reloads just when i start the rendering first.
it was also an idea to make the scenes lighter.
i thought sometimes i have parts of the scene that i dont really need in the c4d scene all the time. like a group of background trees.
in vray you have the possibility to use vrmesh. so you export once an object or a group of objects. in c4d you have only a object that tells vray where this geometry is located on the harddrive. like an external xref.
when you render c4d doesnt have to export this geo. the renderer will load the geo by itself.

my idea was now that could be possible with octane too. so i can export parts of a scene as orbx or something. and octane will load the objects direct. without export from c4d.

I suppose that you couldn't get the problem and what i said! Preparating and exporting in plugin is not a long process. We spend the time mostly on Octane side. This is always very long on standalone or sdk. Even it's longer to load orbx than plugin's export mechanism. It's faster on vray because it's cpu engine.
