Hi people,
We know there is lot of feature requests for plugin. I wished to collect all of these in a topic.
Please write down your advices and requests with some explanation. I'll check and make some list for possible requests. Also i'll post some of them to Octane team for future plans.
Also could you please write a little note about your satisfication amount for plugin, also stability problems.

Best,
Ahmet

Id love to see a lot of different things but I will just list a few main ones for me personally...

Multipass render export options; I believe these are coming anyway in 2.x revision

c4d compositing tag options if possible; seen by reflection, seen by certain lights etc.

vertex map support

support for c4d/external shaders, c4dtools shaders, kendo, wireframe, grunge etc

more xparticles support especially the shaders if possible, particle shader, skin shader, sprite shader.

TFD integration at some point. Rendering TFD in octance would be fantastic.

2.01 is fantastic already though really enjoying it so thanks to Otoy and you Ahmet for all the hard work on this. Yea there is some small bugs here and there but I think they are getting ironed out pretty quickly, so yea, many thanks again !!

ten nailed it. I'd love to see all of these.

I will addd the mograph shaders as a separate wish.

Very dynamic development, plug gets better with each new day.
Crashes have been reduced down to almost non-existent.
Smooth and responsive, at least on my end.
Awesome work!

Hi Ahmet,

the plugin is really marvelous.
Since version 1.5 I've never touched VRay again.

Most of my wishes are already planned or listed
and more important/urgent.

In addition I would like to have a better handling or
organization for materials. When working with lots of Mix-Materials
inside other Mix-Materials etc.. the Material-Manager is becoming
more and more confusing.
I have no idear, how this could be realized.
Maybe via UI if all associated mats gets a smaller icon, or a colored border ???
Added the problem that the materials inside a mix-material will not be copied,
when you copy an object to another scene (I always always forget this))

But thats a small request from my side.

congrats for that beautiful plugin!

regards
MIke

Hi Ahmet,

would it be possible to ad a lens flare option into the post section? The bloom and glare is great but would be even more awesome with lens flares.

Regards - Ron

Hallo aoktar,

- support for c4d/external shaders (NOISE shader, like Image Textur)

- physical Sky with Stars and Clouds. Volumetric clouds

Greetings Rudi

Hey Rudi,
almost all your requests are currently present but need some effort to set up.

- Native noises (and pretty much all uv based shadrers) can be applied without problem. Note, that internally they are converted into textures via the "texture to shader" command in your render settings.

- We got Physical Sky. To turn it into a night scene simply select black as the sky color or use the "mix texture" functionality to load a night image instead. Another approach would be to map the ridged fractal node in combination with the transform shader to fake some night sky stars.

- Volumetrics are also somewhat possible with the help of the medium nodes. Check the sample scenes fro examples of how to set this up. Volumetric TFD-like clouds would be hard to get though. Still - it's a useful thing to know.

Hope this helps.

I would like to see a little more work on the Convert Material to Octane - it generally works very well, but there are still some oddities with colour settings, alpha channel, shaders etc. This is a low priority but the better the conversion the more useful it is. I'm not worried about getting nodes until C4D does.

The default settings for displacement seem very off - I often have to use tiny values, like 0.001, the lowest it will go - and the displacement is still quite high. Also, the black/white point doesn't seem to do anything. I already mentioned an invert checkbox for displacement in a previous post.

I would love to see a system that works like anti-aliaising to get rid of noise. Some scenes with extreme DoF can take a very long time to resolve. I know this goes against the brute-force physically accurate nature of Octane, but we cheat everywhere else - why not here? It could always be an option to use if you needed it - perhaps based on pixel depth values, or inter-pixel contrast levels. (Like the Adaptive Sampling AA method in Lightwave, which only apple anti-aliasing where it's needed). It often seems like Octane is busy resolving the entire image, rather than concentrating on areas that need it - but this might be one for OTOY.

On a grand level, the more of C4D that can be replicated the better, so we can just use the app, then throw the results at Octane. But so far this thing is great. And I congratulate you on your work Ahmet - I think the C4D implementation is easily one of the best out there. Although perhaps we should we take a look at the other plugins to see if there are any features or niceties we're missing? I might try the LW version and report back.

Teşekkür ederim, Ahmet!
