Hello,
Yesterday, a problem suddenly appeared. Whenever I try to expand the transparency inputs of a Standard Surface material or create a second Standard Surface material, C4D crashes. Of course, I'm not sure if the issue is specifically related to the transparency section, but interacting with it might trigger the problem more quickly. However, in general, the issue is related to materials. There are no problems with other Octane-related parts of the scene.

The problem seems to be related to the Octane Node Editor. For example, if you open a new document and create new materials, there are no issues. However, if you open the Node Editor, expand the collapsed sections of a node, and then create a new Standard Surface material, C4D crashes during this process.

I updated Cinema 4D to version 2024.1.2-R4 Build 0103 and also tried the 2025 version, but the issue persists. I am currently using Cinema 4D 2025.0.1. This issue did not occur for 20 days, but it suddenly started yesterday.

I do not experience this problem in Cinema 4D R25.

Below are the necessary/unnecessary things I tried:
- Completely removed and reinstalled NVIDIA drivers using DDU
-Tried reinstalling plugins
-Deleted the C4D prefs folder
-Reset the startup scene
-The issue occurs even in a newly opened project
-Tried different settings in Octane, including disabling options in the 'Other' section, but it didn’t help
-Cleared Octane empty texcache and NVIDIA shader cache
-No antivirus software installed
-Firewall is disabled
Windows 10, 3090TI

What could be causing this issue?

Hi,
thanks for the report.

it is a known issue of 2024.1.2-R4 version, already fixed for next upcoming version.

In the meantime, please go back to 2024.1.2-R2:
