PC freezes using 980tis

Hi there,

I'm rendering on a machine that has a combination of 2080tis and 980tis.
When I dont use the 980tis the render is fine however when I include the 980tis I get a gradual slow down of the entire machine and eventually it freezes until I force quit cinema 4d.

I have attached the log file. If anyone has any ideas that would be a great help.

457.51 Nvidia Game Ready driver/ Octane 2020.2 R3

Many thanks

Could be a power shortage? What psu are you running? How much Watt does your Power supply unit need to deliver for the whole system to work?

Hey @whersmy

Im all good in terms of PSU its running on a corsair 1600W. Its definately seems to be an nvidea driver or octane bug issue.

Octane bugs are more definitive, not random. It's like a hardware or driver issue. Please check your stuff first for stability. Test it with single GPU and try different drivers with the CLEAN install option.

Thanks Aoktar,

The errors are definately not random. When the 980ti is connected it always has the same error. The hardware has been tested ok on other render engines and V4 octane and is not faulty.
Im not an software engineer so my best explaination is it feels as though the memory gradually gets eaten up the longer the render continues until it grinds to a hault.

Im guessing I just require the correct driver for this combination of cards using V2020.2.

If you could kindly tell me the correct driver version for the 980tis using V2020.2 that would be most helpful.

Many thanks

Hi,
since you have a Maxwell GPU, you cannot install Nvidia Studio driver versions.

Please try to perform a clean installation of 457.51 Nvidia Game Ready driver:
https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverR ... 7106/en-us

If this version does not work, please try with the DCH version:
https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverR ... 7108/en-us

To perform a clean installation, please follow these steps:

Hi Beppe,

The DCH version seemed to do the trick.

Thank you
