A. Win 10
B. 2x GTX Titan Pascal
C.32gb
D. Nvidia driver version 431.86
E. OctaneRender Standalone 4.05
F. OctaneRender plugin 4.05
G. C4D R21.023
H. Drag Vertex Map node in node editor and then drag the Vertex Map tag into slot via node editor, causes instant crash.
I. Please see files below

I've tried installing new nvidia driver and still crashes on vertex map insert.

I need vertex maps for a project I'm currently working on for use with fields, I wouldn't mind if it crashed occasional but this seems to be a recurring crash when used in the node editor.

I've added bug reports folder for you:
_BugReport_01.zip
(100.73 KiB) Downloaded 194 times

And also the C4D file where you can try the steps yourself? Just drag vertex map into vertex map slot in the mix texture within the node editor.
C4D.zip
(359.84 KiB) Downloaded 199 times

Please help :/

Hi,
everything is working as expected here with your scene:

Since you have a Titan X Pascal under Win 10, please, perform a clean installation of 431.86 Nvidia Studio driver:
https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverR ... 1050/en-us
To perform a clean installation, please follow these steps:

A. Win 10
B. 1 RTX 2080 & 1 GTX 970
C.32gb
D. Nvidia Studio Driver version 431.86
E. OctaneRender Standalone 4.05
F. OctaneRender plugin 4.05 V6
G. C4D R21.026
H. Drag Vertex Map node in node editor and then drag the Vertex Map tag into slot via node editor, causes instant crash.

Hello. I'm having the same issue with octane 4.05 V6 using a RTX2080
I've installed the latest Studio Drivers using clean installation option but the problem persists. I'm not able to use any vertex map even on a simple scene.
Is this a common issue?
Thanks

I'm not able to reproduce it. But you can use 2018 because it's using native support for vertex colors. It works much faster and better.

Please, double check, because you cannot install Studio driver with 970, you need Pascal, Volta, or Turing GPU to be able to use Nvidia Studio driver.
Is it possible for you to temporarily remove GTX 970?
Alternatively, try to go back to 419.67 Game Ready driver with a clean installation:

Sorry for late reply was busy with another project...

This is still happening, I've tried on 2 machines now this one being the OP machine that has 2xTitan X Pascal and then my home machine which has 3x1080ti's and the same version of Octane 4...Exact same error.

Vertex Map Error.gif
Me showing steps of consistent crash.

I've tried reinstalling Nvidia drivers too, clean install...However, there are literally no other issues with Octane so how can this be a driver issue? I can work hours with Octane no problem, just when using the vertex map I get this issue literally every time no fail on 2 completely different machines...

Octane 4 has kinda been left and 2018/19 being worked on so do you think this could be a bug in the Octane 4?

Same issue here on a Mac M1 Ultra with 128GB of ram and 64 GPU cores. Any time I assign a vertex tag to a vertex map node it causes C4d to freeze. This is true both with C4d R25 and R26/2023. On R25 I'm using the latest stable release PR14 and on R26 I'm using the 2022.1 XB 3 experimental release. I can repeatedly get the same bug with both versions.

This is seriously affecting my ability to get work for paying clients out the door. PLEASE fix this and get the 2022 version stable. I love new features but I just need existing ones to work and not crash the host application. Thanks!
