I have this C4D/Octane project that takes SUPER long to save relative to its file size (45 sec for 200 Mb)
Curious to find the cause, I deleted everything in the object manager and saved a copy. The result was still a 126 Mb file.
Then I deleted the render settings, and the result was a 18 Mb file. Peculiar, all this.
I think my problem might be related to how Octane interacts with C4D's render settings and that the C4D files might have clues as to what is happening

So here they are

I got an answer from Maxon, Octane is not to blame!

This is a known issue and has to do with projects being created in older releases of Cinema 4D with custom render settings.

The easy workaround is to delete the custom render settings and then do a ctrl+z to bring them back. That's it!

This is a guess on my part, but I think there is some information tied to the custom render settings created in an older release that is causing a lot more work to be done during a save process, removing the render settings and bringing them back, updates them to be compatible with current versions of Cinema 4D, allowing the project to save as expected.

Again, a guess on my part, but an easy fix.
