Hi all,
This is the newest stable plugin build based on 2021.1.2 SDK. Any feedback will be much appreciated. Enjoy it!
This is the SDK matching Standalone 2021.1.2.

Make sure to use a NVIDIA Studio driver with version at least 456.38 on Windows. No driver updates are required for macOS 10.13 (CUDA).
This version supports the new NVIDIA Ampere architecture on Windows and Linux. Kepler cards with compute model lower than 3.5 are just supported on macOS.

Changes of 2021.1.2-(R2) plugin
- Fix: missing info renderAOVs when crypto AOVs are used
- Fix: parameter reset issue when extern OSL scripts are used

Core changes since OctaneRender 2021.1.1:

  • Reverted the conversion from color/RGB texture to grayscale back to what we were using in 2020.2 and before: Picking the red channel. In 2021.1 we changed it to use luminance instead, but that broke too many scenes where RGB image textures were used for opacity or bump.
  • Improved update speed of AI light in heavy scenes with lots of emitting geometry.
  • Toon lights have been moved from the "Emission" category to the "Light" category.
  • You can now set log flags using the -D parameter when starting a net render node directly via the command line.
  • Fixed render failure when nested dielectrics are enabled and the scene contains lots of overlapping geometry.
  • Fixed crash when saving HDR render passes if cryptomatte is enabled with info kernel.
  • Fixed Octane hanging under rare circumstances when Cryptomatte AOVs are exported.
  • Fixed crash when a user instance ID Cryptomatte AOV is being saved.
  • Fixed crash of net render nodes if the scene uses PMC + info AOVs.
  • Fixed artefacts in interactive render region when Cryptomatte is used with network rendering.
  • Fixed handling of negative values in IOR maps, to make sure it behaves the same as in 2020.2.
  • Fixed glossy material inside glass looking wrong with nested dielectrics
  • Fixed incorrect/not working vertex displacement on Ampere GPUs.
  • Fixed rounded edges to not to render correctly on Turing GPUs with scenes that have both static and moving instances.
  • Fixed copying of OSL texture nodes that have image files as inputs, which broke some scenes when being rendered in the batch render script.
  • Fixed missing material pins when Alembic scene is loaded in Octane (see viewtopic.php?p=407982#p407982).
  • Fixed net rendering with "AI light update" enabled causing visible discontinuities at the boundary of tiles.
  • Fixed multiple application of the placement of an SDF/Vectron if it consists of nested SDFs/Vectron nodes (e.g. using an Vectron Union).
  • Fixed incorrect value in P if an SDF is evaluated directly and as an input for a "Volume to texture" node.
  • Fixed incorrect subsampling of shadow passes.
  • Fixed tangent normal AOV to always apply bump/normal mapping (see viewtopic.php?p=408681#p408681).
  • Fixed alpha operation "Blend mode" of composite output AOV node, which was causing blending operation to produce incorrect result. This fixes discrepancies between the main AOV and a combination of the light AOVs.
  • Fixed "Opacity" setting of "Composite AOV output layer" which wasn't applied correctly.
  • Fixed missing updates when the scene changes while a Cryptomatte AOV is being tonemapped.
  • Removed spaces from exported Cryptomatte EXR layers as Nuke couldn't deal with them.
  • Fixed broken render passes export dialog after previously saving deep EXR, when deep image is no longer enabled.


IN ANY CRASH CASE PLEASE DO THESE!!!
If you see CUDA errors follow 1,2,3,4.
1- Use NVIDIA STUDIO drivers, not Game Ready versions. If you have stability issues try different drivers, some of them could cause instability issues. Make a clean install while doing this to be sure previous files completely removed.
2- Check GPU frequency. Overclocking would cause instability issues
3- Check PSU. Insufficient power output would cause instability issues
4- Check the free amount of GPU's VRAM and system's RAM while working. Low VRAM will/may cause CUDA errors. Be aware of some generator objects will have different triangle count in Picture Viewer than Live Viewer. It’s like “editor/render” parameter. Just try to use the same value. Also try to optimize your scene for polygon count, even use smaller images. Try to use Octane texture nodes rather than using C4D texture/shaders.
Alternatively, use V4 and Out-of-core(OOC) function. Increase RAM for OOC and It should not exceed physical RAM amount. Check TDR value and increase if it's necessary.
5- If you see C4D crashes without CUDA errors, then send us bugreport.zip, screen-shots and video capture to show process and crash moment. Also please send us a sample scene in a format of C4D or ORBX to let us investigate and test it. Alternatively, try to delete/hide some objects/materials until crash gone away. If you find what's causing crashes, send us a sample scene to let us for investigating and bring a fix or solution.
Thanks for helping the development by your feedbacks! It’s impossible to quickly catch every case without user feedbacks! It’s the same procedure as other companies do like Maxon/etc...

Requirements:
-You'll need to update your Cinema 4D to latest versions(R16.050, R17.053, R18.057, R19.053, R20.057, R21.115, S22.118, R23.110, R24.111, R25.117). Otherwise, the plugin will not work and not appear in menus.
-Internet connection for activation, be sure that C4D and Octane will not be blocked by the firewall and any antivirus software.
-Nvidia drivers at least Nvidia Studio Drivers(minimum 456.38) and be careful with latest Game Ready drivers which can cause cuda errors. Stay with stable one for you.

Installation
First, remove all octane related stuff from plugins and the main folder of Cinema4D.

Extract all files to Cinema4D\plugins\c4dOctane directory.
Also, download manual.zip and extract to c4dOctane directory if it's not available in place.

There are a few files for each one is for different Cinema4D version. Remove all except the file is for your version.
Ex. if you have Cinema4D R18.0, keep only "c4dOctane-r18.cdl64" and delete c4dOctane-r17.cdl64, c4dOctane-r16.cdl64, c4dOctane-r15.cdl64, etc..

Hi,
if you save a custom c4d layout with Live View panel inside, c4d freezes the title, and cannot be updated.

You need to remove the Live View panel from layout, add it again, and save the layout to apply the change.

To know which exact version is installed, go to c4d menu Script/Console or Extensions/Console, (Shift+F10).

Thanks a lot for the new version.

- I got a request (might be for standalone):
Is it possible to have at least double light IDs? 8 are not enough for many scenes that require this feature.

- Can we add AOV manager as a button in LV?

- Lastly, what is the way to disable all AOVs (not delete em)? I find myself having the scene setup and then If i wanna do a quick test render, I need to manually disable all AOVs.

Let me know what is possible,

Regarding the disabling of AOVs en masse, go to Render Settings > Octane Renderer > Render AOV Group tab, and disable the Enable checkbox. The AOVs will no longer display in the Live Viewer.

Updated the builds for fixing a bug which is crashing nodes when they are duplicated in node editor. Sorry for trouble!

Thanks this way it won't save the beauty though :) I need to be able to save only the beauty from octane (I never use the c4d save as it lacks features/compatibility reasons) and enable or disable all the aovs for test renders.

I am referring to PV.

Hi,

if I want to use the "denoised" Passes (Refl-dir, Refl-ind, Diffuse-dir etc.)
why do I always have to add the (so for me useless) "not" denoised passes as well to get the denoised ones?

If I only add the denoised passes, they all are black!

Was the same in the previous version!

Please fix it that beautys and denoised beautys are NOT saved into the (EXR) Octane renders when CRYPTOMATTE is enabled!!!

When I disable cryptomatte it renders all AOV passes perfectly like it used to, when I enable it it renders no beauty, denoised beauty, ao pass.
