Hi Aoktar, sorry to bother you. Since 2020.1.4 network rendering seems to be broken. It worked before flawlessly in 2020.1.3 but now, the slaves are constantly hanging and the whole rendering stops, waiting for the slaves. Last night I had a 6 hour rendering running on 3 machines and it stand still for 5 hours. I updated to the newest studio driver to solve it but no success.
Wouldn’t it be possible to integrate something like a time-out for the slaves, so the master will continue rendering when a slave stucks? Ideally the slave restarts automatically and continues its work until he hangs again. Such a feature would have saved me a lot of precious time.

Thanks

@ fibernaut: it should be scene dependent, please save the project with assets, compress the resulting folder, and share it with me via Private Message, if too big, you can share with me a link to dropbox or google drive, or any other similar service, thanks.

Could you share also the specs of your machines:
CPU-RAM-GPU-os-Nvidia driver

@bepeg4d unfortunately I can‘t share the scene file since it’s a customer project. The specs of the machines are listed in my signature. I am running Windows 10, but not the 2004 update on all machines. Nvidia driver is the newest studio driver on all machines.
There is not even a log message or something on the slaves. It just stops rendering or communicating with the master. What driver do you guys use with 2020.1.4?

no matter the scene, it's pretty random, do you have any idea about the possible reason for this type of error? I'm on Win10 and 4x1080Ti

Thank you.

Drivers/windows update, whatever else of me! It's a low level error that I cannot know exactly because I don't handle core.

All right, thanks, I'll try to update the drivers to the latest version 451.77, or if you guys have a specific version which works well with Octane 2020 I'd be glad to know.

Hey bud, if u share scenes in private there is no problem with the devs. I ve shared important projects with ndas, with no issues.
If not, problems will remain unsolved.
On that regard, I have one of my slaves randomly connecting. I fire up PV and it might join it might not, is a bit random. I dont know how to reproduce it though it has happened in any scene. If i can give a hint, thit is more obvious when "bind all" is enabled.
I use latest studio and same as u, i dont have 204 may update in all machines. I ll try that first.

Cheers

Small Issue: there is often the problem, that nodes in the Node Editor cannot be grabbed and moved around, or scaled. Mostly only a few, one, two or three, so far not reproducable, when and wich. Next time opening same material, it can be that other or no nodes are affected. Un/Linking is possible as well as doing context-stuff (RMB) or selecting. If selected together with other nodes, it is possible to move it. Moving node allone, scaling (icon down right) and the small menue icons in the top right (dis/able and GUI controls) do not react.

If so, one can see this from the mouse icon. It does not turn to a hand but stays a marker, a vertical sign like used in text-editing. But there is nothing to edit.
And, as I see right now: normally a node shows in bold letters its name [type] after some seconds. These nodes show a second line wich says e.g.
Code: Select all
Invert ID: 1044/0 gui:1 OctPID:83 [P_INVERT]

These nodes are maybe mouse-dragged-copyied ones, but as said, this is not reproducable, and dragging-copying again is possibly without having this issue on new nodes. It is a small issue, but slows down work sometimes "efficiently".

Hi all,
about Nvidia driver and stability, to work with the latest octane version, please always perform a clean install the latest Studio version of Nvidia driver, if possible (Pascal/Volta/Turing GPUs)*.
At the moment, the latest version is 451.77 Studio driver.

Kepler and Maxwell* GPUs are not supported by Studio driver, so you need to perform a clean install of the latest Game Ready version of the nvidia driver.

What is very important, is to always perform a clean install, or stability will be affected:

*
Kepler = GTX 6XX/7XX
Maxwell = GTX 9XX
Pascal = GTX 10XX
Turing = GTX 16XX / RTX 20XX

Working with particles I found out that now it is impossible to expand the geometry area. It is more than incovinient if you have more than one type of geometry.
