Hello Ahmet,

I will try to give you as much information as you need. So let's see your list first:
1) I tried different drivers. I tried them with both versions 3.08.5 and 4.0 RC7. Not every single driver, but at least 4 (388,398,411,416) it didn't seem to matter. If you think it might be useful to go through every single one of them, I'll do it. But how do you mean to have a clean install? Do I only uninstall the old one and restart or do I have to use some sort of cleaning program?
2) no overclocking
3) PSU should be good enough. It's a Seasonic X-Series 1250W, 80+ gold. I have 3 GPUs.
4) As I mentioned it before GPU's VRAM is not full. It lists as I still have 2-3Gb available when it crashes. I also enabled Out of Core. (how high should I go with that? What about GPU head room?)
5) Crashes are usually come with CUDA errors, but there are some random Octane crashes.

What information you need exactly to investigate this issue? I will try to reproduce the errors and give you a file with it. In the meantime, this is the usual error message (attached).

I saw you mentioned something about not using the monitor GPU for rendering. I will give that a go, even though I'm not too happy about not being able to use one of the graphic cards, that will slow things down.

Thanks a lot, I appreciate the help and all the hard work you are doing. This software is awesome! Keep up the good work!

PS. I will also try NOT using out of core, as screamerclauz mentioned.

Agree, a want use all my GPU too...looks like in my case octane cant use all my RAM. Dunno why. I'm even increased my windows page file to 64gb.
And i have 40gb RAM, but Out of Core using only 2-3...

Could I ask only one thing, that I wanted already to ask some days ago?
Is there a way to improve navigation around sample in preview mode?
Something like in standalone, with navigation around object.
Thanks in advance for replying.

Cheers

You can do that in very similar to viewport navigation throught alt+mouse buttons. Thanks for appreciations!

I'm just before rendering a large project (3.000 frames with V4 RC7) with deadline next week
and I am very skeptical with updating license to V4 and disabling my V3 license.

In the past there have been some license problems with the server where you had to contact Otoy support etc.
This would kill my project if it will happen here again when changing anything with the license system.

Can you or anybody else conform, that all slaves and the main mashine will work after updating?

thanks for all your work so far!
Mike

You can use V3 or V2 when you update to V4 license. Not matter!

Hi Ahmet,

I'm sending you a file and description for a reproducible CUDA error (on my machine).
Let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you!

I thought we could keep our version 3 as well. Thanks.

Looking forward to using it. Love version 4. The denoiser saved me on a spot I just did.

Thanks for this advice.
I just wanted to upgrade, too, because they also have a Black Friday discount for the "All Access Extension (1Year) for 179$. (instead of 238$ I think). Seems like a good deal.

For the licence ppgrade:
Can you or anybody confirm that it is still possible to work with version 3 after the upgrade to version 4?
I understand the procedure to deactivate V3 licence before upgrading, but is it possible to activate it again after upgrade to V4?

I really like to work with both, because I still have some old fermi gtx 590 cards working here, that do still a great job for small animation projects :).

Thanks for all the hard and continous work, Ahmet!! :) ;)

ChrisVis,

Well, it appears it is for me anyway.

I deactivated Version 3, went online and upgraded everything to V4. Installed, then opened Octane 4, signed in, then tested everything to make sure it was working in C4D.

Then after I saw your post, I reopened version 3 on my system (I never uninstalled it) and checked it. It said it was still signed in, eventhough I had signed out and deactivated it. I replaced the plugin and went into C4D and rendered a scene. 3.08.4 is still working fine.

So I guess when I signed into 4, it signed me into 3.08.4 as well(?)

That's how it worked for me. Just thought I'd post.

Hey there.
Got the same problem, allready in previous 3.08.5 versions.
You have to open the OctaneCameraexp.res in the Cinema4DR15/plugins/c4doctane/res/description folder with an texteditor (I am using Notepad ++) and delete all "SCALE_V;" or "SCALE_H;" entries. Its not only in line 84 (notepad ++ shows the line numbers). Aoktar mentioned this in another thread, dunno how this is, seems only to be for R15.

You will also have to do this in the TextureProjection.res (error comes up, when you load a HDRI file in a HDRI environment)
Hope that helps!

Thanks for your reply.
I also upgraded now and there is no problem at all with switching between V3 and V4. First deactivated, then loged in after first start of C4D Octane 4, after that it keeps activated, no matter if I use V3 or V4.

Unfortunately I get random Cuda Errors (out of memory) with V4 (using only GTX 980ti and 2x GTX780Ti inside PC)... need to test it with newer NVDIA drivers later. I was stuck to older driver versions because they seemed to drop support for fermi cards (mixed multi GPU), so I couldn`t use my old GTX590. ( I know, outdated as hell, but still performing quite good with 100 octanbench each card (V3). Can`t use them anyway with V4... so need to replace them soon.)
