Hi All,
This is next test/preview release of plugin which is based on V4-RC7 SDK. We recommend that you mention that it is experimental, they should not use it for production work, and that we cannot guarantee backward compatibility.
Please note that this build will expire in 120 days, this is now shown on the bottom right of the standalone release.

As mentioned in the previous release, we are still looking at various stability issues, especially one issue that was reported by various users where Octane rendering fails with spurious CUDA error 2 (out of memory). It seems to happen at specific points during the scene initialization phase but during CUDA calls that don't allocate any memory. For the one scenario where we could reproduce the issue, we have found a workaround to "fix" it, but since it might be just some obscure side-effect of some other problem, it might pop up again in some other scenario. I.e. we need more data from users and more failure cases and any help by you is very much appreciated.

Important notes:
Since XB2 Preview, we have dropped support for Fermi cards.
Denoiser is under Camera Imager from Settings or Camera Tags. Just denoised beauty pass is available in plugin, others will be added.

IN ANY CRASH CASE PLEASE DO THESE!!!
If you see CUDA errors follow 1,2,3,4.
1- Try different drivers, some of them could cause instability issues. Do a clean install while doing this to be sure previous files completely removed.
2- Check gpu frequency. Overclocking would cause instability issues
3- Check PSU. Insufficient power output would cause instability issues
4- Check the free amount of GPU's VRAM and system's RAM while working. Low VRAM will/may cause CUDA errors. Be aware of some generator objects will have different triangle count in Picture Viewer than Live Viewer. It’s like “editor/render” parameter. Just try to use same value. Also try to optimise your scene for polygon count, even use smaller images. Try to use Octane texture nodes rather than using C4D texture/shaders.
Alternatively, use V4 and Out-of-core(OOC) function. Increase RAM for OOC and It should not exceed physical RAM amount. Check TDR value and increase if it's necessary.
5- If you see C4D crashes without CUDA errors, then send us bugreport.zip, screen-shots and video capture to show process and crash moment. Also please send us a sample scene in a format of C4D or ORBX to let us investigate and test it. Alternatively, try to delete/hide some objects/materials until crash gone away. If you find what's causing crashes, send us a sample scene to let us for
investigating and bring a fix or solution.
Thanks for helping the development by your feedbackst! It’s impossible to quickly catch every case without user feedbacks! It’s the same procedure as other companies do like Maxon/etc...

Requirements:
-You'll need to update your Cinema 4D to latest versions(R16.050, R17.053, R18.057, R19.053). Otherwise the plugin will not work and not appear in menus.
-Internet connection for activation, be sure that C4D and Octane will not be blocked by firewall and any antivirus software.
-Updated Nvidia drivers(most recents like 39x.x) with Cuda 9.1 - change driver versions if you have much trouble with current driver

Installation
First remove all octane related stuff from plugins and main folder of Cinema4D.

Extract all files to Cinema4D\plugins\c4dOctane directory.
Also download manual.zip and extract to c4dOctane directory if it's not available in place.

There are a few files for each one is for different Cinema4D version. Remove all except the file is for your version.
Ex. if you have Cinema4D R18.0, keep only "c4dOctane-r18.cdl64" and delete c4dOctane-r17.cdl64, c4dOctane-r16.cdl64, c4dOctane-r15.cdl64, etc..

Cinema 4D Release 15: c4dOctane-r15.cdl64 or c4doctane_R15_demo.dylib

Hey Aoktar, thank you for your tireless work getting these versions off of the ground. I was wondering if there was any plan to include DWAA & DWAB compressed EXRs as options for multipass output.

Has anyone reported an issue with Octane render passes not being saved? The last 2 releases, I have it set to save denoised beauty pass and it does nothing.

Hi Ahmet, bravo and thanks for your continued efforts on the C4D plugin. Probably my request isn't exactly in the right thread but well, as it is related to your development work, here: I guess you have the goal of making Octane material compatible with Blend material, but in the meantime, would it be possible to have a script that converts an Octane material node into a sub-material node? This "one click" bridge would already be a great comfort for us to work with our Octane materials collections via the node editor, and update them for the remarkable arrival of the Blend material in Octane for C4D. ;)

It could not be better on timing. I'm silently and currently working on a convert function for mix to blend, plus octane to sub_material will be natural part of this. Thanks for the appreciation!

A specific pass? I've been trying to save denoised beauty. I also added a diffuse pass once just to see if anything would save. No luck. Just nothing happening. (denoise is definitely on in render settings, too, and showing in the live viewer)

I JUST got it to work by changing the path.. must have had something to do with the render path I had before.

Issue of saving renderpasses are fixed on latest builds. Please post if you find a troubled case.
