Hi All,
This is next test/preview release of plugin which is based on V4-RC4 SDK. We recommend that you mention that it is experimental, they should not use it for production work, and that we cannot guarantee backward compatibility.
Please note that this build will expire in 60 days, this is now shown on the bottom right of the standalone release.

Whilst we have reached the feature lock milestone, we consider this a non-stable release, as we expect to stabilise in preparation for the first stable. Until then, please do not use this for production purposes.
EDIT: There have been various reports that the Linux and OSX builds crash during startup after the cuDNN library got downloaded and installed. We hope to have found and fixed the issue and updated the OSX and Linux release builds accordingly.

Important notes:
Since XB2 Preview, we have dropped support for Fermi cards.
Network render is still disabled.
Denoiser is under Camera Imager from Settings or Camera Tags. Just denoised beauty pass is available in plugin, others will be added.

- Default environment color is now part of scene parameters
- R20 build (Not available yet for OSX version)

- Fix: several fixes on missing ui stuff in sub_material and universal material
- Fix: Wrong ids for denoising passes, added volume denoising passes

- Fix: Error on denoising devices
- New 1/IOR map in universal material
- ImageTexture compression added and channel format fixed
- Fix: Delete material problem while NE open
- AI volume denoiser
- Fix: Picture viewer rendering problems with denoiser and passes
- New pins added in Universal material.
- Additionally some minor fixes in plugin...

Changes of V4-XB3
- Help support for the Nodes in Node Editor
- Geometry Engine default changed to "All Movable"
- Visualisation for VDB voxels

Changes of V4-XB2.1 test2
- Fixed random material preview crashes, mostly on LiveDb
- Fix: error on OSX and reading of ScatterObject/csv files
- Added: New universal material to Octane Material and Blend material
- New options in Instance Color and XP emitter

Addons for plugin side
- Viewport rendering: Activate from Live Viewer/Octane dialog options menu. Keep open the one of these windows during the render session.
- Node Editor: Experimental float sliders on nodes. Need to activate from "settings->nodes->embedded gui".
- Node Editor: Show/hide options for node pins.
- New help system, updated manual(it's still wip). Access by help icons from nodes/etc..
- Several minor fixes.

Requirements:
-You'll need to update your Cinema 4D to latest versions(R16.050, R17.053, R18.057, R19.053). Otherwise the plugin will not work and not appear in menus.
-Internet connection for activation, be sure that C4D and Octane will not be blocked by firewall and any antivirus software.
-Updated Nvidia drivers(most recents like 39x.x) with Cuda 9.1 - change driver versions if you have much trouble with current driver

Installation
First remove all octane related stuff from plugins and main folder of Cinema4D.

Extract all files to Cinema4D\plugins\c4dOctane directory.
Also download manual.zip and extract to c4dOctane directory if it's not available in place.

There are a few files for each one is for different Cinema4D version. Remove all except the file is for your version.
Ex. if you have Cinema4D R18.0, keep only "c4dOctane-r18.cdl64" and delete c4dOctane-r17.cdl64, c4dOctane-r16.cdl64, c4dOctane-r15.cdl64, etc..

Hi Aoktar,

on my computer this release crash immediately on C4D startup.
EDIT: the crash it's caused by the network render. If I disable the slave, it works!

it seems that the opacity/shadow issue only occurs when the dirt node is used in the opacity slot. both, directly and as a e.g. amount-source being fed into a mixteture-node.
this issue does not occur, when dirt-node is not used. noise or rgb won't produce this error.


have tested this dirtnode/opacity/shadow-issue with different versions now:

r18 + 3.06.02 -> shadow is not being cast at all.
r19 + 3.08.3 -> shadow is being cast in the faulty way as shown.
r20 + most recent v4-release -> shadow is being cast in the faulty way as shown.

That help link in the program gives a 404 file not found error
- is there anywhere one can find a sort of a introductory guide to the universal material btw?

ah sorry didn't know, this seems to be specific to C4D plugin, which i am not following closely. i was fooled be the "RC" versioning, which is supposed to have all release features active. in any case, the standalone and the LW plugin are enabled for network.
