Every plugin is a different software which connects host and octane core. And any feature of CORE needs to be implemented well and integrated tightly. So it's not a matter of minutes as somebody thought. Sometimes it can be very complicated to inject or sometimes very quick!

I'm worried about that! It may bring some big problems to us, we'll see after our stable releases.

Could someone ELI5 how to get rendered denoising frames from the picture viewer?

This is what I've done.

OCTANE RENDER SETTINGS:

*Unchecked save
*Inside Octane Renderer 'Render Passes' tab, I've clicked 'Enable', 'Show Passes', 'Show Beauty', 'Multilayer file'
*Under 'Denoiser Passes', I've selected 'Denoised Beauty' and 'Denoised Remainder'


DENOISER SETTINGS:
*Inside of the Octane camera tag under the 'Camera Imager' tab, I've clicked 'Enable' under the 'AI Denoiser' option
*Denoise on completion is checked on
*Min. denoiser samples are set to 100

When I render, the resulting image is black.
However, inside of the picture viewer I can see the render layers and when I click on 'Denoised Beauty', I am able to see the denoised image.

What am I doing wrong?

Could someone make an explainer video of what to do? I'd totally Venmo you some cash for your troubles.

Hi helloimneil,
if you are correctly seeing the denoised result in Picture Viewer, probably there is something wrong in the way you save that results.
Please, post a screenshot of the Camera Imager node, main tab, and a screenshot of the Render Settings/OctaneRender/Render Passes tab.

I was able to get the solution I needed via the Octane Facebook group.

It was in fact due to the way I had my saving options selected.

I'm absolutely thrilled with the denoising.
I know that the devs (aoktar) have said that it's not production ready, and I'm sure with more advanced projects it's not. However, for the project I'm working on currently, this has been an incredible boon.

One frame of my current project was taking around 12.5 minutes to render. My workstation has 2x 1080 TIs and 1x 1070. With denoising turned on the render times are around 1 min 5 seconds.

Seriously blown away by this new addition. Have rendered well over 100 frames with no issues whatsoever.

Way to go devs!

my C4D experimental has stopped working. It said there is a new version and I need to update, but I don't see anything new here?
