Hi All,
This is next test/preview release of plugin which is based on V4-XB2.1 SDK. We recommend that you mention that it is experimental, they should not use it for production work, and that we cannot guarantee backward compatibility.

Important notes:
Since XB2 Preview, we have dropped support for Fermi cards.
Network render is still disabled.
Denoiser does not denoise volumes or hairs yet.
Denoiser is under Camera Imager from Settings or Camera Tags. Just denoised beauty pass is available in plugin, others will be added.

Changes of V4-XB2.1 test2
- Fixed random material preview crashes, mostly on LiveDb
- Fix: error on OSX and reading of ScatterObject/csv files
- Added: New universal material to Octane Material and Blend material
- New options in Instance Color and XP emitter

Addons for plugin side
- Viewport rendering: Activate from Live Viewer/Octane dialog options menu. Keep open the one of these windows during the render session.
- Node Editor: Experimental float sliders on nodes. Need to activate from "settings->nodes->embedded gui".
- Node Editor: Show/hide options for node pins.
- New help system, updated manual(it's still wip). Access by help icons from nodes/etc..
- Several minor fixes.

Requirements:
-You'll need to update your Cinema 4D to latest versions(R16.050, R17.053, R18.057, R19.053). Otherwise the plugin will not work and not appear in menus.
-Internet connection for activation, be sure that C4D and Octane will not be blocked by firewall and any antivirus software.
-Updated Nvidia drivers(most recents like 39x.x) with Cuda 9.1 - change driver versions if you have much trouble with current driver

Installation
First remove all octane related stuff from plugins and main folder of Cinema4D.

Extract all files to Cinema4D\plugins\c4dOctane directory.
Also download manual.zip and extract to c4dOctane directory if it's not available in place.

There are a few files for each one is for different Cinema4D version. Remove all except the file is for your version.
Ex. if you have Cinema4D R18.0, keep only "c4dOctane-r18.cdl64" and delete c4dOctane-r17.cdl64, c4dOctane-r16.cdl64, c4dOctane-r15.cdl64, etc..

Cinema 4D Release 15: c4dOctane-r15.cdl64 or c4doctane_R15_demo.dylib

Universal Material in action with PBR materials downloaded from FreePBR:

Just create a Diffuse material, or whatever, then change the type to Universal in the Basic Attribute tab:

then drag and drop the PBR maps into the node editor and connect to the proper pin. In this example, I had only to change to Follow Smoothed normal option in Displacement, and reduced the Gamma at 1 of the roughness of the metal on the left... no Mix Material or Bland Material used in this example :)

The new universal material is great, thank you Ahmet!! :)

While testing I noticed something for the first time: non-square displacement maps are not working. For example, a map with 8192x4096 doesn't do anything, but cropping it to 4096x4096 works. I think I've used such maps in the past... am I wrong?

How is that your renders are doubling time with the 4.0 vs 3.8?

it smells good for the future!
The online help section is really useful and well done!

that said, if it can be useful I join some bugreport files collected since the first v4 version of the plugin.

Awesome release Aoktar congratulations on a excellent track record developing the plugin!

The universal Mode in the material needs an emission channel for the dielectric part and It will be almost on par with Substance PBR outputs. where I can suggest this feature?
