Yes i have notified that. Thanks for your posts. They are really helpful. I found a bug in mixmaterial's opengl part. It was crashing when you copy/paste to new scene.
I'm looking also for scatter problem. I suppose that's due my last minute revisions on scatter object. Most likely all slowdown problems are related with scatter object.
Hopefully i'll fix all and make a new release.

It's very hard to help when lot of people flood many post. Please send me a scene to test it. Also describe the steps to reproduce. I cannot simulate every scenario to avoid problems/crashes. C4D is very big tool and imposible to test every functions without your helps.

There is not differences as you said between two versions? What's your C4D version? What kind of scenes are you talking?


It was a fairly simple scene, mostly using "alt" to replace c4d materials with LV open. Just a CNC machine. Using r17 lastest SP and sometimes beta versions of C4D (I do testing for Maxon). Also haven't experienced it after swapping to the r17 file in the octane folder rather than the r16 one. The freezes were mostly happening when dragging octane materials to meshes with LV open or dragging octane materials on top of C4D materials in material manager. Too random to reproduce.

I understand how difficult it is to adapt a 3rd party plug to a large existing code monster like C4D. If I come across it more or can reproduce the freezes, I'll report back the steps.

İt can be related with opengl textures. what's your c4d and is version? Is it belong to this plugin version?

C4d version I was using was 17.048 (commercial RB) and os win 7, and the .cdl64 file I was using was r16. Nvidia and 361.43 drivers.

Is there any way to make use of the Position and Rotation channel of the scatter?

It seem not working yet :(
It would be great to add some randomness with noise shader here. Now it seems that only Y in position and X in rotation gives any results.

Everything I listed is exactly what it happened with. I haven't experienced it since I started using the r17 cdl, but I'm not doing the same thing I was now either.

this works now as expected

no crashes with this version

also no crashes, but after redo the mixmaterial is empty - no submaterials. but at least no crash, i could live with this if you want to call this as a limitation.


another new issue in this version:
when i open the attached scene the octane scatter is active but the instances are not generated in live viewer. i have to deactivate and activate the octane scatter object or sometimes it helps when i move the camera but not always. then i can see the instances in LV.
