Even though I have out-of-core textures active and GPU headroom is set to standard 180MB my GPUs memory fills to 2969MB of 3000MB. Is this feature working fine for shure?

hello aoktar. even though unchecking shadow visibility, objects still cast shadows.. same with you?

Hi, I'm having a problem saving out multilayer EXRs. Saving the passes as discrete files seems to work fine but multilayer makes a file that appears to be the correct file size but is basically empty/black when opened.

Am I doing something obviously wrong?

Hi aoktar,

Version 2.24.1-R3 is behaving strange for me on R16...
i opened an older scene and when i send it to the live viewer it takes a very long time (a minute or so)
where c4d becomes quite unresponsive until it renders. resizing the LV window becomes almost impossible.
when it starts rendering its all ok again, resizing the window is working normal.

this was not like that before when sending to the LV also worked a lot faster.

are there new features taking so much time that i can switch off?

Sending to Octane engine time = 0 ms
Octane update time = 653.528 ms.

What's your OS? Linux/Win/Osx/Android/....
Always please provide more info. What's better version for you?

Nothing i suppose. Octane compilation process takes so much as your information. It's done by Octane out of plugin. We wait it until finished. For 2.24.2 test versions, i have added an native async system for this part. It allow to work while waiting.

I m on MacOSX 10.10.5, c4d R16. gtx580 3gb, newest CUDA. Version 2.24.1-R3
and i really get VERY ODD behaviour.

- very very long prepare times until rendering/LV starts (a very simple scene, no big textures, not a lot of geom. -> 1-2 minutes, this was way faster with 2.21)
- system lags in this phase
- sometimes i even end up in total system unresponsivenes when i click on resend scene too early:
then i cant click anything anymore, i cant change the app, i cant kill c4d, nothing... i have to hard reset the computer.
it feels like the screen freezes and doesnt get updated anymore, but the mousepointer is still moving.

and btw is it not possible to scale the texture mapping by the c4d texture tag? (doesnt seem to work with UV projection)

is it not possible to change the plugin version without deactivating / waiting 60min / activating again ?
why does it say i used another computer. i just removed v2.24.1-R3 plugin from c4d and added v2.23.2-R6.2 instead.

Geometry compilation is slower in OSX accordingly my tests. It's very slow against windows version. I have reported this to Otoy.

Also give a try to 2.24.2 TEST2 version. Let me know what's the results. Also post a scene which you tried. Let's check and compare it.

About UV mapping; everythings should work there. Please post something is wrong. I can't help without samples.
