Probably you need to do some little changes within old versions to work with new. The same is for all other plugins also in Photoshop.

Me or with Aoktar on the dev side?

I remember when I used Lightwave 3D and with some version they rebuild all material system. All of my materials that I did within 8 years was gone. They was totally not compatible with new.

Oh thats brutal! I really hope thats not the case here, I have SO many nature scatter systems built that I copy and paste all the time. As it's only broken on the copy/paste, im hoping its a small issue thats easily fixed.

This is why I don't use plugins from year like Forester for example and others. Because I know that with every new C4D version they will be not compatible or they want some money for update to the new C4D version. "Some" - is like the same as new without any new features ;)

I know many scatters, instancers etc but I think that the new Octane Scatter is the best in the terms of possibilities. Especially using node system. It is not as easy as others but very powerful.

There can be a bug, that's normal. Also 2022 version is not appeared in one day. You could report it during development period of it. I can't test every scenarios, that's the why we have this period. Production quality is related to contribution of user support.

Interesting, im not sure if we are either. Opening projects with older versions of scatter works perfectly, its just when copying and pasting them..

I dont need the old/legacy features, but does this mean all pre-existing scatters are broken if we want to copy and paste them?

EDIT: I would screen cap but shadowplay isnt working for me currently.

Essentially I open ANY project that has a scatter and was made in 2021, click on a scatter, copy, file new project, paste, crash.

EDIT 2: With 2021 scatters, copy, paste inside the same project works fine, its just when its being pasted into a new project.

Creating a scatter in 2022 and copy/pasting it also works. Its just the 2021 scatters.

I cannot reproduce it, anyone else?

My only question is this: I got really interested in trying out the Shape Field texture node, but after much trial and error, I couldn't figure out how to make it work within the C4D plugin. I used the Fields.orbx project file provided in the post of the Standalone release as a point of reference, but in C4D, the "Field texture" node does not have a "Core Shape SDF" input. I tried to work around this in various ways, but alas, I never came close to making it work.

Any insight or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey Aoktar! Sorry to bother. Any chance you could perhaps comment on this? I would really appreciate it.

It's not implemented because it's pretty tricky for plugin side. Maybe in future, sorry
