Problem with Shadow Mattes and Denoiser
***************************************

In the last few versions of the plugin I can see we have a Problem with Shadow Mattes and the Denoiser. You can see from these two screenshots that once the denoiser runs, it massively reduces the density of the shadow on the shadow matte. It basically seems to erase 75% of it. This is a new problem.

I am still having a big problem with this topic. When I render to a shadow catcher, it works perfectly until I denoise the pass, and most of the shadows on the floor are massively reduced. How to I prevent this ?

Also the shadow is NOT denoised. It has been this way for years. I am just not sure what is happening. What is the workflow to get a clean normal shadow with denoiser ?

If I used it with Alpha, The shadow is much better preserved, but I still get the NOISE, even with Denoiser. The denoiser does not seem to work with the shadow catcher at all. Please explain...

Ok I checked that. It does not really help. It doesn't work for my workflow at all. There is no reason I should be using AOVs just to get a simple shadow catcher to work.

Let me state my question again. Why does the denoiser not work on the Shadow Catcher ?

Hi richardyarlett,
Octane Render developers are aware of the denoised shadow issue.
They're working to implement a new denoiser to fix it.
