normal as displacement works indifferently with gamma 1 or 2.2

Spectral or RGB has nothing to do with any of the utility maps, only color calculations. 50% opacity is 50%. It's simple math. Displacement is internally hard coded to gamma 1.0. And, for all the same reasons, every map other than diffuse should be set to 1.0 as default. If people want to adjust it later, fine. But, the correct default for all utility maps is gamma 1.0.
Please discuss this with a programmer who perhaps can convince you better than I.
The fact that there's even a gamma spinner in the displacement map(that does nothing at all) is misleading.
