Hi Karba,
there's a problem with the 2.06 version, same data for test between the 1.55 and 2.06: (3dsmax2015)
24 201 860 poly => 2.06 version crash
24 201 860 poly => 1.55 work
????
Some news about maximum poly and 2.06 vs 1.55 ?

Re,
new test with 2.1 => same with 2.06 => loading failed.
always work with 1.55 !
(about configuration dual Nvidia Quadro K6000)

Currently 2.x versions have triangle limitation about 19.173.961 triangles

thank you for the information, Karba.
I know it is not easy to discuss about the ongoing development for version 2.x, but is there a change to load more triangle in a near future release ?
Remember i have dual quadro k6000, so I'm frustrated !

What kind of scene do you render? What is the main triangle source?

I work in digital archive of heritage, especially in archeology.
My 3D models are created by 3D scanning. The density of triangles in the geometry is very important and I can not too much decimated models.
Models from 10 million triangles to 100 million triangles (with huge model MentalRay rendering)
with my test i hoped it'll be possible to load near 50 million triangles with the 12Go vram of the Quadro K6000.
so, i'm frustated with the downgraded triangles power 2.1 (19 173 961) vs 1.55 (26 843 545).
Perhaps i'll need to find a dynamic cameara LOD solution.
If you have more information and ideas, i'll keep !
