I have same problems since two versions now. But devs can't reproduce the issue. You need to have octane render view open and then uncheck and check the "Enable Denoiser" checkbox. This will bring denoiser back. It don't happen when you use Production Render. Only with the interactive viewport.

I have problems with out of core rendering. Working on two heavy scenes with around 13GB OOC. All is stable and nice.
When I close the viewport, one GPU stops as intended. The second GPU just runs at 100% and don't stop. 3dsmax freezes and I can't work further anymore. After some times passes windows prompts with a window if I want to close the application.
After lots of minutes it works again. Usually closing 3dsmax loading the scene again is faster...

I run 528.49 studio drivers. It doesn't matter if I press the "pause" button and then close the window.

What causes this behavior?

Hi mbetke,
Experiencing this issue, did you take a look at the log Window? Are there error messages? Could you share it?
Regards
Paride

Can we please get a global parameter for rounded edges?

I have an urgent problem on a production project.

Recently, I purchased anima plugin (https://secure.axyz-design.com/en/anima5) to animate 4D people.
Now, while rendering the animation, the materials of the models are messed up in some frames. Like if the wrong texture is applied on some frames. It works then again for some frames and then one frame is messed up again.
You can see some comparisons on attachments. Frame 105 looks good. The girls are playing. But Frame 106 is messed up. Then some frames are okay until one gets this error again..

I set up the scene with these steps:

1. Used anima drop to place the models.
2. Set the models to moveable proxy.
3. Render.

Maybe I missed some important steps how to set up 4D models properly in anima because it's a new tool for me.
The strange appearance also shows up in the Interactive Viewport in Octane Renderer.
I have to check if the error goes away unchecking "moveable proxy" but this would result in a long evaluation time for each frame and anima model resulting in huge render times. So it is not a real solution.

Ideas here? I contacted anima support as well. Unfortunately, it's a production project on a deadline.

EDIT:
Yesterday anima-Support told me to check "Force Update Timer on Prerender" and "Force Update View on Prerender". It's a known issue with Octane. But it didn't help. :(
At the moment, the only work-araound is to rebuild the complete scene for the specific frames which are showing the error.

EDIT 2:
I made further test and was able to track the problem down to the Motion Blur feature in Octane and made a video reproducing the issue.
You can see two things here which are only arising with anima.

Around 1:00 you see the materials failing.
Around 3:00 you see the Octane Viewport randomly restarting the rendering randomly.

Sorry for the shaky mobile recording and silent talking.
On the positive side for my current project, it seems as soon as I deactivate motion blur, all is fine. I can add MB in DaVinci Resolve.

using denoiser makes a PC very slow and overuses CPU even denoise on completion. It was never like this in older octane versions

and errors especial when using a lot of reflections

Hi Paride,
Can we please have a proper tutorial for using embergen vdb to setting up fire material in octane? Now, embergen has export for flames and temperature. What is the difference? thank you

There are so many similar settings by default in octane it is unbelievable and confusing. I think you should overhaul your approach to fire volumes and smoke. Too many buttons do the same. Please make shading as simple as embergen or add a button to auto match or auto-create quality flame. Thanks

Hi mbetke,
That's strange.

A few things to try:
-In Kernel / Render Settings: set Notify objects on render to 'Per objects',
and in Octane Object properties, set 'Enable Render mode' on the the 2 girls objects.
It might slow down the animation a bit, but could fix the issue..

-In Support tab, set 'Broadcast Pre Eval' and 'Broadcast frame change' to 'Always'.
This could help the Anima plugin to update the materials ..

-In Octane Object properties, try to enable both Vertex motion blur and Object motion blur.

-in Support tab, Common Scene Collection Settings, try to disable 'Use Direct geometry handler'

If you can send me by PM a partial scene, I could have a closer look..

Thanks
