Render target and Octane Environment greyed out?

New question, I found that the place where you can fiddle with the Octane Environment settings and where you can change the render target (the place where you can switch the types of rendering done) which is located in the 'Effects' tab of the carrara Scene when selected from the instances tray, however it's completely greyed-out so although I can see the options there, I can't interact or change anything. What do I need to be doing to enable this so I can make those controls useable, and what am I doing wrong?

Maybe, if you have not already,
Look at the top ribbon for:
Edit>Octane Commands> About/Activate Octane Plugin

About/Activate Octane Plugin should not be greyed out. If it is, you may be able to activate by clicking on it.

Well, it is true that the 'Activate' button on the About/Activate window is indeed greyed out, but I think that's just because it's already activated. The Octane render window comes up and renders just fine now, I just can't really change the environment or the render target, which is inside the 'Effects' tab of the Scene itself. Can't figure out how to upload a pic or I would show a screenshot...

Oh mine presents the same, I'm not having trouble there. It's in the Scene tab, when I want to (for example) switch the Octane renderer type to PMC from direct, all of that area is greyed out.

Now that I'm learning when I decided to try the latest version of OctaneCarrara that it relies on a different license than my old perpetual license, so I only got it working because I 'rented' a Studio license for a month. Maybe the Studio license has other limitations of what it can do? Or maybe I need the Enterprise license to unlock the Octane environment controls and the Octane render target controls? Perhaps if I downgraded back to the old version that I bought the perpetual licenses for, those functions would then unlock again and not be greyed out? Or maybe I'm just missing something obvious... :)

this is my oldest V4 in my library, the scene tab etc is not greyed out but it won't render
and I really cannot use the others without the scene options available for animation
I think it's the end of the line for Octane and me, pity, I used it a lot but not willing to keep tossing money at it, sunk cost fallacy and all
at least on my machine
may explore online cloud options one day if can do by month basis not a years subscription, my income too low for such luxuries (less than the dole in Australia)

Fixed, removed the Mimic plugin now it works, that gave me trouble with something before, I have the Carrara Beta installed as well and will use it in there instead or 32bit
