Monster Machine

Hi Simon,
I wanted to share this link with you and Thomas, and ask a question relating to it. The link is to a Youtube series by Smicha7 you may be familiar with, which documents how to build
an amazing work station. I have not gone through the videos yet...just started. My question relates to the last video, Part 23. Here, he does a test render in the Octane Standalone with his new, monster machine.
What I am wondering: If I were to pursue this sort of machine, are there any reasons that Carrara would not be able to take advantage?

Thanks for your help,
Rick

There is nothing stopping a rig like this working with octane for Carrara.
Win8/64, I7-4770K (3.5Ghz) 24GB, GTX-980ti (6GB) / GTX-TITAN (6GB)

Thanks. Probably a bit much for my output, but fun to learn about. I have learned that a machine like this is used for movie output,,,,,,like 17k x 1920. Wow.
Back to considering Amfeltec.

Hi Rick,

That's a freaking awesome machine. Might be out of my price range :)

In fact, I render with 5 GTX 980 cards quite fast. I'm really happy concerning the speed - compared to Arnold and Maxwell.

Just released my 2016 showreel and I'm also quite happy what Octane Render can do for me: https://www.dropbox.com/s/oe9iv1nu92zvk ... Thomas.mp4

However, if the news are correct, Octane 4 will be even faster. Can't wait to grab a copy...

Any new cool animations on your side of the ocean?

Best wishes,
Thomas Schwenke

Thomas, your reel looks great! Love the robot bees scene. Love the gears and the go-cart. Really good stuff, and lots of hard work!

I have been working a lot lately but because of NDA's, must wait to show.

Were you able to use Sparrowhawk for the chain and sprockets? I was playing around with the plugin and crashing when launching Octane.

Hi Rick,

Great you like it.

Yes, I used the plugin for the chain. Worked quite well for me :)

Is it crashing when you open OR Viewport? That would be strange :?

Best wishes,
Thomas

Yes, exactly. It crashes when I open the OR viewport. Glad it is working for you. Sure looks good.
