Motion blur fail

Hi there,

It seems that I can't work with motion blur in Carrara and Octane. In the picture you can see that the ground has no motion blur at all, however the go-kart has lots of blur. It should be quite the opposite... The camera is moving with the go-kart, so the ground should have lots of motion blur. The scene can be downloaded here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/twey8oa0c190x ... CKE-v7.car

The Carrara native renderer gets it right. Octane render gets is wrong :(

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Best wishes,
Thomas

If you want to blur the background while the camera is moving then you need to enable Camera motion blur. However, I am currently working on a bug where, if camera blur is enabled and object blur is not, then objects in the scene don't update their position in the viewport. So for now, if you want camera blur, you also need to enable object blue.

Tested it, but does not work. Will submit a video so that you can see what I mean :)

Hi,

Please find below the video.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/msyv1kyfo37b1 ... -35-44.mp4

At 1:00 the generation is finished. You can see that the go-kart and the man are blurred, which does not make sense. At 1:23 I go to the next frame. You see that the go-kart and the man go out of the camera. At 1:33 I go to frame number 2 and you see it happen again. At 1:45 we see that the go-kart and the man is still within the camera in Carrara, but in Octane Viewport it's not.

Best wishes,
Thomas

Hi again,

Seems to work :)

Is there anything we can do in Carrara to adjust the motion blur effect? Something like shutter speed?

Best wishes,
Thomas

Here I am again :)

I just created a video that shows the differences between m-blur and no m-blur. Camera m-blur seems to work fine, Object m-blur does not work at all.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4q9513089jxax ... r-test.mp4

You can see at 0:08 that the rear axle is jumping up and down. That's all it's doing. I'd say that this is not the effect we want :)

At 0:07 you can see that the large gear of the drive wheel is not spinning at all, which is quite right because it spins at a rate that it looks like that there is no movement. M-blur should work here, right?

At 0:06 you see also the small wheel of the drive wheel. There is no difference between no m-blur and m-blur to my eyes. There is also no m-blur for the belt.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Best wishes,
Thomas

Hi,

Any feedback here? Is it an Octane problem or a plugin problem?

Best wishes,
Thomas

It looks like I'm missing some animation settings from the standalone related to shutter time. Currently it is set to 20% of a frame which means the blur will be quite subtle. You can expect a new Animation tab in the render settings for the next release.

Hi Sighman,

Ok. Great.

Please also see my post from January on the same issue for rotating objects: viewtopic.php?f=79&t=52264

Rotating objects seem to jump up and down... As posted in this topic here, the axle jumps up and down without any reason. Would be great if this could be solved, too :)

Best wishes,
Thomas
