I'm afraid that dropbox link is not working.

Also, can you give me a zipped .csv file.

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, I had to free space and deleted it unintentionally; did not realize it... sorry :?

Ok then, I created a CSV files (for the scatter node) and zipped them. I also created an ABC file with all channels activated.

The idea to zip the CSV file is quite good I think. I used zlib for it.

Did you know you can load the alembic file directly into the standalone. Add a Geometry -> Scene node and you will be prompted for an .abc file. If you load the alembic you provided you will see a bumpy sphere. This is because the particle size in the alembic is set to 1 which is 1 meter. Can you re-export the alembic with a smaller particle size, say 50mm or so.

I've made some progress with the csv scatter support, I hope to release something in the next day or so.

Hi,

I did not know that, but it's great. I tried to set a different size but it does not seem to work. OR Standlone seems to need some special channel for the size!? Can you see what channel is needed?

I posted a question in the Houdini group. Hopefully, they are able to give me a tip.

Best wishes,
Thomas

Hi again,

I changed the Length unit for ABC import to Millimeters, but this does not change anything. So, there seems to be no scale or size information within the ABC file that OR Standalone can use.

Oh, and great for the CSV module. I wait for it eagerly :)

Best wishes,
Thomas

I found this link on particle support in Houdini...

https://docs.otoy.com/manuals/products/ ... particles/

Don't know if it will help with an alembic export though.

Thanks. However, I cannot make it work that way. The Houdini OR plugin does not use alembic; it uses the direct way. We'll see what they will answer me...
Any news on your CSV module? :)

Hi Simon,

Great, thanks alot :)

However, I am not able to make it work. I create a sphere or a mesh object, click the scatter button in the Effects tab and load in a CSV file. Then, I see nothing... :(

I tried it with this file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fuvn1m10zg8qq ... cle-56.csv

Best wishes,
Thomas

It crashes in the case of a surface replicator in the scene...
