Yes, absolutely. In fact, there is no way to attach an OOL modifier to a light that I can see. Only to objects or groups. The tube is part of a group. I experimented with using the modifier on the individual objects, sub-groups, and groups.
No difference.

Hi Simon,
Please see attached file which demonstrates the shadows not being toggled off using OOL modifier.
Best,
Rick

Simon,
I had inadvertently un-ticked Alpha Shadows in the Render target. Should be ok now, thanks.

Hi Simon,

Not sure on the status of displacement.

I was doing a fairly basic render, and couldn't figure out why is was slowing to a crawl.
Turns out the Displacement channel of a Brushed Metal Material was the culprit.

Is this a bug , generally with displacement, with a fix in the works, or specific to the particular material?

Best,
Rick

I've not used that specific material but I have rendered stuff with displacement and not noticed a dramatic fall-off in render speed, in fact I have been very impressed at how Octane handles displacement.

Hi leesim, and welcome.

I am not aware of any issues using modifiers with the plugin. It may be that there is a conflict with another plugin that you have installed. It can be quite a challenge to figure out when you have a lot of plugins installed. You could try installing a new copy of Carrara in a separate directory and install just the octane plugin to see if that works. You could then start installing other plugins until modifiers stop working. Until I know which plugin is in conflict with octane there is not much I can do.
