Wonder what to check.
Could be, the squirrel in my computer needs feeding.
Maybe Simon will suggest a reload of the plugin?

Thank you again for testing. So good to know there are other CarraraOctaners out there.

Best,
Rick

Hi Orion,
Just did a simple test file that did, in fact, work. (Sphere moving in an HDRI scene)
Could be that the files I am trying to use are simply too complicated. I believe that I gave them ample time to load.

Will try again later and give a shout if anything comes of it.
Best,
Rick

New update posted to this thread.

Uses latest Octane SDK and fixes a performance issue with LiveDB.

LDB crash

Hi Simon,
I am able to duplicate a Carrara/LDB crash by simply scrolling down within the Cloth category. Haven't noticed crash yet in other categories, but duplicated 3 crashes in different files
searching Cloth.
Thanks,
Rick

Thanks for the report. I'll look into it. In the mean time, I enabled livedb in the local Db tab. You can try to download materials from there.

Hi Simon,

On the LDB, today, getting the following message when scrolling down:

"Buffer size is not sufficient".

And, of course, not able to scroll down.

Local DB lets me view, but not download into Carrara.

Thanks,
Rick

addendum......just crashed....But on Carrara reload, now able to scroll down and select in LDB....

.almost: it seems like trying to view the very last, or bottom most Materials, stimulates a crash.

Did you select import from local db?

Right-click / import seems to work.
I don't know how I missed that.
Thanks. Now I have a new, fast LDB access.

Re: OctaneRender for Carrara 3.06.04.35[Stable] - shadow control

Hi Simon,
I am having some problems with turning off shadows using the Octane Object Layer.
In particular, I would like to use an Octane enabled Spot light in my scene. Really like the controls you have enabled with the Spot.
Both the Spot and the Bulb are showing shadows, despite using the OOL modifier.
Thanks,
Rick

Are you setting the object layer on the object casting the shadow? Setting it on the light will have no effect.
