OctaneRender for Carrara 2.25.0092 [Stable]

This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender for Carrara 2.25 - Stable.

This is a stable version of OctaneRender for Carrara version 2.

Carrara Version
This version requires Carrara 8.1/8.5 Pro (64bit). This version runs on 64-bit Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10. The .NET 4.5 Framework or higher is required.

If you have a support issue, please provide the following information:
- Operating System (ie. Win 7, 8, 8.1, 10)
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version
- Carrara version
- OctaneRender for Carrara version (ie. 2.25.0092)
- List what other plugins you have installed for Carrara
- The most important part of resolving a problem is me being able to re-produce that problem. So please provide as much detail as possible in order for me to do this, and if the problem is specific to the scene, send me the scene.

- Fixed Field of View calculation when production frame width < height.

- Fixed hang in render room when scene contains an unsupported light.
- Fixed hang in render room when nothing in the scene changes between frames.

- Fixed problem where replicator instances would not update when source object moved.

- Fixed problem with camera motion blur not working (including exporting scene in animation mode).

- Fixed problem with animated Octane Environment settings not changing during an animation.
- Fixed problem with animated Octane Light (Point & Spot) settings not changing during an animation or while panning the timeline.
- Fixed problem with some LiveDB materials that contain nested Node Groups ('corrugated mesh' for example) not being saved properly in Carrara.

- Fixed problem with objects that were initially hidden on scene load not showing up when made visible.
- Fixed problem with multiple object visibility toggling causing Carrara to crash.

- Fixed problem with animation settings not getting reloaded from the Carrara scene file.

- New installer.
- Upgraded to use Octane SDK 2.25
- Fixed Displacement Offset step to support fractional units.

Changes In 2.24.0082
- Fixed problem in Render Target window where Kernel picker and Info Channel Type picker were tied together.
- Fixed problem in Render Target window where some kernel settings were being ignored or had incorrect default values.
- In Render Target window, added up/down buttons to Imager Response picker.

Changes In 2.24.0081
- Fixed problem in Render Target settings where dropdown lists showed duplicate entries.
- The last selected tab is now remembered (for the current Carrara session).

Changes In 2.24.0080
- The number of supported hair groups has been changed from 10 to 32.
- Gamma in the Octane Color Correction shader now has 3 decimal places.
- Added new About/Activation dialog to the Edit->Octane menu. This dialog replaces the OctaneLive tab in the Octane Settings dialog.
- Added new Render Target settings dialog. This dialog is opened by selecting the Scene and clicking the Edit button under Octane Render Target. This dialog replaces the Render Target tab in the Octane Settings dialog.

Known Issues
- Carrara can crash when consolidating materials. (Edit->Remove Unused Masters->Consolidate Duplicate Shaders) The exact cause of this issue is still unknown as there is no reliable repeat case and I have not, myself, been able to reproduce this issue. If you can find a repeat case then I will reward you with great praise. It is highly recommended that you save you scene and close the ORVP before trying to consolidate.

Hi Simon,
I did a batch queue render of a file with a simple camera zoom which failed to zoom.
I attempted to recreate a simplified version of the file to test a separate batch render.
The test file does not render at all. Thanks for checking the attached.

I would be curious about experimenting with .vdb in 2.25. Is this something that could be backported?

Sorry, no. VDB support is an Octane 3.0 feature.

Hi Simon,
For some reason, not predictably, file type keeps unchecking on renders, from "single" to nothing, causing .exr output, but no .png frames.
