This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender for AutoCAD TEST and STABLE releases.

AutoCAD Version
The plugin requires AutoCAD 2019 Windows 64bit.

Nvidia Driver Version
This release requires Nvidia drivers 392.x or later.

Network Rendering
For Network Rendering, you must use the Octane slave release from the Octane Standalone installer which matches the exact Octane version of the plugin you are using.

If you have a support issue, pls provide the following information:
- Operating System (ie. Win XP, Vista, 7, 8)
- 32 or 64 bit
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version

Hi Guillermo. The AutoCAD API does not provide any geometry extraction functions for AEC objects - so it's not currently possible to obtain any info on them. To resolve this, Autodesk would need to add functions to obtain the vertices, or (this is my hope....) Autodesk provide a way to extract the entire scene via a single interface (as they have done for Revit (since Revit 2014) and Inventor. Maybe in AutoCAD 2015?

Ok Paul I understand... Is there a way to ask Autodesk for that geometry extraction funtions for AEC objects or it is up to them to bring it on Autocad??? Maybe if we ask they can provide it... At the end it is just to make the plugin with full support for any kind of objects and make the job for more fluid. :P
Regards and the plugin is fantastic anyway

Hi Guillermo. My feeling is that there is a very long cycle (years?) for making a request and then having it implemented. My best guess is that Autodesk would provide an alternate way to directly extract scene geometry (as they have done with Revit and Inventor), which would include AEC objects, before they would build support for just AEC objects. So, yes, it is worth putting a feature request in for AEC geometry access, however I suspect the probability of it being implemented would be low, and some other access method would become available in the meantime.

Yes Guillermo. I was going to do another change (internal to the plugin) at the same time, which was not working 100% with the current Octane 1.21.1 library - so I will wait for the next Octane release before adding Out of Core textures.

Hi Paul,
I see that new features are coming in the Octane Stand Alone hopes that it will be implement in some near future in Autocad Plugin, another new is that Autocad 2016 is out, I am testing it right now so if you want to give it a try with the Autocad Plugin I can help, again I hope that it can handle the geometry to extract AEC objects :? .

Hi Guillermo

I am downloading AutoCAD2016 (and it's API) at the moment to test. The new API features are discussed at http://through-the-interface.typepad.com/through_the_interface/2015/03/autocad-2016-for-developers.html - but there is no mention of AEC objects. However I will do more investigation in the next day or so to find out more. That link implies that you can run AutoCAD2015 plugins in 2016, so in theory you should be able to use the OctaneRender for AutoCAD plugin in 2016 (but you may need edit the PackageContents.xml file (at a guess, change SeriesMax="R20.0" to "21.0").
