No GUID

Hi, I'm pretty excited about this project, I can't wait to try efficiently running a 3d software remotely :)

I've tried setting up the sample autodesk ami but there is no GUID appearing in the tcpsvcs.exe command line between the name and the port. I tried creating a new instance while entering the GUID myself in the user data section but there is still no GUID appearing in the command line information...

Any idea about what's wrong?

Thank you!

Hi - Please restart the instance and try again. Let me know if it shows up.

I also recommend you put your own GUID in there if possible, and copy over the security policy settings.

Rebooted the instance and it came back up but now that service isn't running anymore. =/

Please confirm which AMI you are using, and PM me the IP address of your instance. Thank you.

I restarted the 'Ec2Config' service and also ran 'tcpsvcs' from the Command Prompt and it looks like the service is running properly now; there's a GUID.

Thank you, I now get a GUID in the process manager but it's not the one I enter using the userData with the text "GUID=...", it that a normal behaviour?

I had already copied over the security profile from the AMI, I'm now getting a timeout error like the people in the other topic using both the GUID I provided and the one in the process manager.

I added IMCP to the allowed protocol/port to confirm that I'm using the right ip address, I was able to ping the ec2 instance.

I'll PM you the ip address of my instance to see if you could remove it's guid.

Thank you.

Great! It ended up working after you removed the GUID.

Great :)

Please post share your FPS and ping time (press the i button in the top left to see stats). We're trying to get a sense of latency from Amazon servers in different regions. Thank you!

I can't get ORBX to work here on the company's computer, it's likely a firewall/networking issue since I get the connection error message. I'll post the fps info later when I get home.

I'll do more extensive testing later but pinging the aws server from my home computer gave about 25ms and from the company's network about 20ms.
I'm in Quebec, Canada and my ec2 instance is hosted on the north virginia datacenter.
What is the minimum latency required to get "good" ui feedback?

Also a quick question about orbx3D (http://www.otoy.com/cgc/cloudgaming_2013.pdf), is it expected to be compatible with geometry shaders and other advanced opengl/directX features? I'm asking because the slides talks about remote draw calls and I know that feature isn't expected in webgl2.
