I agree. However, I don't see Autodesk going after Octane. They have a long standing relationship with Mental Ray, and Mental Ray has the Quicksilver and iRay options...If they just want people off the market, they'd have bought out Bunkspeed and others already (at least, that'd be my guess).

Now, back to waiting patiently for the plugin release... ^_^

Dear friend,

'they'd have bought Bunkspeed and others already (at least, that'd be my guess).' bunkspeed is based on irays core technology & probably thats why its price is so high. It's the same engine runin' under the hood..

This is how it goes.

Geez, too much conspiracy maybe?
Interest in Octane by Autodesk is probably zero, since they have iRay.

Interest in Softimage by Autodesk is probably zero, since they have 3DS Max and Maya.

Apples to oranges. You're comparing apps (with different markets too) to plugins.
Autodesk implemented Mental ray, yet it didn't buy vray, did it?

Edit: of course Autodesk did buy plugins for max in order to integrate them, but there's not enough difference between octane and iray to justify such thing.
