Any chance Carrara will be added to the subscription model?

'Scene processing and load speed has been incredibly improved. You probably missed that due logic of standalone. Also AI denoiser is another weapon'
for these reasons I'm looking at using the Standalone a great deal more.. it simply wasn't the case where before, time seemed better utilized just using the plug(I use C4d) to get work done.. which brings me to the question of what might a 'updated plug for C4d might entail where 'Scene processing and load speed is involved' as the ver 4 plug rolls out. I imagine the Standalone and format delivers a lot of the improvements in Standalone speed.. I wonder if that can be accomplished inside the C4d environ.. if at all?

Hi all,
I'm a new user in 3D and render world.
As new user I don't have Octane standalone v2 nor v3. What I have now just a single GTX 1070 and Win 10.

So my question is: Can I download standalone V4 and use for personal use for FREE without any monthly subscriptions/fees?
Is that correct?

Thank you for your answers

I found two bugs:

  • When denoising larger renderings the denoise screen is black.
  • Loading of render a state is not possible.

Thanks, we are still optimising VRAM usage by the denoiser, but that is likely the reason that it fails to denoise your image currently. You could try to experiment with out of core geometry to save some more VRAM for the denoiser to use.

Render states should be loading, if saved by the same build. We'll look into it.

We are looking to reach a point where we can start to release "test" builds, and then development plugin builds could be released.

You should see the same performance improvements in the plugin, as you see in standalone.

Out of core geometry does not solve the problem.

On large renderings I save the render state all couple of hours. So it is definitely the same build. But it is not working.

For the problem with the denoiser and the black screen, I have the same problem but if I use a single GPU by activating suelo deny without tonemapping and rendering in the preferences it works

Batch RenderJob node doesn't work. Hit RUN and nothing happens.
Batch Rendering from scripts:
1) missing render priority option
2) if I try to render 2 or 3 Targets, render images are black or cut or with artifacts. When rendering only 1 target - everything is OK. Please fix this.
And maybe it is time for XB2?

Urbach says that new versions will be more often. But it is 1.5 months from XB1. Often? Now it is same as always. With this speed, we will get XB3 at the end of the year, and plugins in the next year.

I found an other bug:
When using transparency in Octane 4 it is not working. But the same file works fine in Octane 3.
