Hi everyone,

Refractive Software® is proud to announce the availability of the beta 2.46b release, which fixes a few regressions of the beta 2.46 release candidate.
We have also updated our demo downloads page with a new demo version of it, which was long overdue.

The new DEMO version can be downloaded on the 'downloads' page here: http://www.refractivesoftware.com/downloads.html

Demo users can now evaluate OctaneRender® functionality with all the new features (area lights, IES, gradients, alpha channels, and much, much more) added since the 2.2b DEMO version was released.
The commercial version is available for licensed customers in the Commercial News & Releases forum.

Yours,
The OctaneRender® Team.

On the demo download page it says 2.2, not 2.46b... :?

Refresh the page. You probably still see the old page loaded from your browser cache ;)

Hi.

We have now updated the demo suite, too. You can find it on the download page. Two new scenes were added (thanks to dave62 and tehfailsafe) and a set of IES lights including prerendered images, for easier selection of a suitable light (thanks to vinz).

Happy rendering,
Marcus

When will octane support displacement or vector maps(tangent, world, or object space)? Does this update support either?

Octane supports normal maps, but no displacement mapping (yet). The normal maps must be specified in world space. You can find more details in the manual on pages 116 and 117.

Marcus

Sorry, I was wrong in my previous post: The normal map is supposed to be defined in tangent space.

Cheers,
Marcus

I'm finally a point to try using Octane regularly. I have a license and was curious to know, do I simply download the most recent demo and activate it with my license? Or is there a specific download for registered users?
