I'm a little confused by the subscriptions that are rolling out.

From a post in the facebook Octane Render group, it says:

"The subscription service provides access to the latest versions of the software(v3), and an Octane Plugin e.g. the C4D plugin....a monthly fee is $20...., A maximum of 2 GPU's are available for rendering, Network rendering is not available"

The information I read from slide 52 in April made me believe this:

"$19.99/month - same features as Octane Standalone/Network slave

$9.99/month - Octane on up to 2x GPUs

OE Plugins will be $9.99/month

OE bundles/suites (eg. 2, 3 or more plugins) priced at $19.99/month"

I have purchased 5x 780ti cheap from eBay that give me 520 octane bench. Being limited to 2x GPU's is a bit of an issue. To purchased the perpetual licences for standalone and the plugins I need isn't an option for me at the moment.

Maybe unwisely I based my hardware choices from the information above, possibly going with 2x faster cards would have been a better choice.

Could one of the otoy team clarify the pricing plans for the up coming subscriptions?

Hi TZ2016
The subscription service currently available for $20 per month (for Standalone and one Plugin) is designed primarily for students, although other users are welcome to subscribe.
For users that require more GPU power than the subscription 2-GPU limit, the best option is to purchase licenses.
I hope that this helps to clarify.
Kind regards, Win

Thank you for your reply.

Have you changed your plans since April? What was slide 52 referring to?

Hi Huv,
when Octane v4 is formally deployed the v3 to v4 upgrade will be free of charge.
If you are a licensed Octane v3 combo license, you will be able to upgrade to v4 free of charge, then your licenses will be Enterprise tier, It allows usage of up to 200 GPUs.
If you are subscription, you'll be automatically upgraded (for free) to the "Pro" version of Octane 4 which allows support up to 20 GPUs.
The Prime (free) tier will be available to anybody that wishes to use it - v3 is not a requirement. This version allows up to 2 GPUs for free.
Regards
Paride
